Coal miners say Obama ad is a lie.. they were not forced to attend Romney event.

If you follow Chicago politics, this is right out of their playbook. As far as Obama, "desperate people do desperate things". I think with no record to run on they are pretty much stuck with this strategy.

Having been raised in the coalfields of central Appalachia, coal miners hold a special level of honor in my life. Mining is hard honest work. Appalachian coal powered America's unprecedented growth during the 20th century and there is plenty of coal still in reserve.

No one I know personally involved with the coal industry intends to vote for Obama. Such a vote would be profoundly against one's own best interest. Coal is plentiful, cheap and available for use throughout the United States. Carbon-based fuels will survive Obama's time in office. Much of his harmful agenda can be reversed if he is voted out. It is heartening to see these Ohio coal miners speak up. If Romney carries Ohio, he wins.

If the ads I've seen in West Virginia are any indication, Obama is in an awful lot of trouble in coal country. Seems the Obama administration has been trying to shut down the coal industry, and now he expects these people to vote for him???

Anyone that works for a living should be against Obama. He wants to either eliminate their job or if not then to tax them more severely. Anyone that believes anything Obama or his people say after almost 4 years of absolutely nothing but lies and broken promises is an absolute fool.

Same goes for anyone in the trucking industry and DOUBLE for those who run temp controlled trucks. The combination of over regulation, bogus environmental regulations and the fact that this administration does not enforce the interstate commerce act is making operating at a profit VERY difficult.

No, no, no. If you are making a profit you aren't doing your fair share.

Well....of course. "You didn't build that". ;)

Must not have. The Demoncrats don't believe that normal, everyday, hard working American's are capable of building a business or providing for themselves. That is why they, the Demoncrats, are so compelled to provide for their pets. They are not only benevolent but superior beings. Just ask them.

Operating at a profit is VERY difficult for you??
Which Obama over regulation has hit you that hard?
What aspects of the I.C.C. Are costing you so much?
Maybe I missed something.

The environmental regs have cost us dearly; however, fine tuning our business by changing our acceptance criteria, knowing where all of our T-Val customers are located, being proactive when dealing with dispatch, etc. etc. have helped offset the increased costs and keep profit stable.

Disclaimer: I should note that due to one BIG misdiagnosis on our truck the situation could change slightly this year. Litigation outcome is pending. :(

The ONLY reason I just spent 11K on a new APU is the laws that stop idling. I would have to burn a LOT of fuel to make up for 11K + fuel to run the APU AND up keep on it. I will break even, at best, on the APU.

As of Dec 31, this year, thanks to Obama's refusal to enforce the interstate commerce act my perfectly good, on the profit side of it's life, temp control unit will no longer be legal in CA. Fixing that problem would cost around 10K (replacing the engine only) OR between 24-26K to replace the entire unit. I cannot justify that cost, either the engine OR the new unit.

I also looked into buying a new temp control unit, then moving it to a new truck in a year or two. To offset the cost better. The cost to move it would have been, at today's dollars, between 4-8K, making that plan not worth it.

Will losing CA, and most of the country west of the Big River hurt me? Only time will tell. The point is that those regs are bad and are costing us money that need not be spent. There is NO way to make enough NEW income to offset the cost of the new temp control unit.

Anyone that works for a living should be against Obama and doing the only sensible thing, voting for Romney, the only option that gives any chance of eliminating Obama.

Vote Mormon not Moron

Fixed it. Left out something important the first time.

Vote Mormon not Moron.

The ONLY way I could vote FOR Romney, which I would NEVER do, and have ANY chance of that vote having an affect would be to move to North Dakota. As long as I live in Michigan my vote for president is purely symbolic. As is the case with EVERY vote I have ever cast in a presidential election since I was old enough to vote, I voted FOR no one, just AGAINST the bum I did not want in there. This time is NO different and I have little doubt that will ever change.

I have never voted FOR anyone. Every vote I have cast in the past, and this year, were votes AGAINST the one I could not stand more. Simple.
