##### Cheney

I was aware that D Cheney had DVT aka as a serious blood clot in his leg that apparently developed from a long flight.I have since read an article that stated he has has 4 heart attacks, quadruple bypass heart surgery and two procedurers to clear clogged arteries. He also has a implantable cardioverter defibrillator.

Now why is this walking time bomb # 2 in the administration, seems to me that serious health problems like D Cheney has should call for a resignation from a position of power. There are also Senators and Congressional Reps that still are in ofice when they are 90 years old.

This is a farce, our leaders should be healthy and of a sound mind and be capable of concentrating on the issues that face our country without having to deal with serious health problems.

In a way, I see your point. However, under those criteria neither FDR nor Winston Churchill would have been allowed to hold their positions during World War II. The demands put upon them were quite a bit more stressful then those of the current conflict. JFK also had quite a few ailments that were kept out of the press during his time. Nixon had phlebitis and Dan Quayle also had trouble with blood clots resulting from long flights. On the other hand, the recently deceased Tom Eagleton was forced to withdraw as a VP candidate because of treatment for depression. I think the mainstream media goes out of their way to denegrate Cheney at every opportunity, whether it's justified or not.

Don't forget Wilson, Eisenhower - both had serious health problems. Hillary was preceded by Edith Wilson as the first women co-president when wilson had a stroke in 1919 to the end of his term. She handled the affiars of the country to the point that she made decisions that effected the country when he was near death for a few months.

These are the least of the reasons he's not fit to be number 1.If you have not noticed his"low"profile, perhaps you should. It's because his popularity with our citizens is lower the W's.Now that might be a real reason to toss the bum out. It's the body parts from the neck up that worry me most.
He can be seen speaking to very selected audience's,not surprising. He's a mushroom politician. They keep him hidden away except when they need bull**** spread around in small dose's.Give me a break.

Tallcal, please...

if the VP needs to be concern with poll numbers from a poll with a cross section of 1000 adults, who happen to have never voted in their lives and can't tell you who the vp is or name one supreme court justice, well then I guess that he should not have the job - what ever that job is.

Oh by the way, did you know that the approval ratings are far lower for the congress than for the president or anyone in his cabinet.

Greg, is the statement above, regarding the voters, a fact or your opinion?

Cheri, it is a sarcastic statement.

The fact is that polls are setup for a specific outcome and the pollsters select a group that will give them the outcome the sponsors want.

The country would be in serious danger if our elected leaders made any types of decisions - especially wartime decisions - based of popularity polls taken by the mainstream media for the purpose of creating news. Most of the people that respond to these polls probably wouldn't recognize a picture of Bush or AlGore, and don't have a clue where Afganistan or Iraq is on the globe.

Also, I really wish we could get away from the name-calling and stick with substantive criticisms. If we don't like Cheney, let's cite what exactly he's done during his tenure as VP that's been detrimental to the country - and that doesn't include his being CEO of Haliburton before he took office. The same goes for Bush, Clinton or anybody else for that matter. To just say they're stupid, ugly or an a%^*$&#! doesn't really say what's wrong with their judgement or their policies.

Funny you should mention leaders making policy from poll results. Dik Morris spilled the beans that Clinton did exactly that. Nearly everything was based on polls, including lying about Monica.

Does the name calling apply to both side?Because it seems the Clintons will never be exempt from anything but piling on by most on this site. Before you ask for a refrain from name calling,I suggest you get a concensus among your buddies here to lay off.
I will cease(since I'm the only one taking regular shots at the Dik and his posse)once I see a little more mature approach to "history".I don't think it will happen,as there is too much pent up emotion now that the tables are turned. It's desparation as the dark days grow darker for this pathertic administration(is that name calling?)

I wasn't picking on Clinton just to pick on him. I was responding to:

"The country would be in serious danger if our elected leaders made any types of decisions - especially wartime decisions - based of popularity polls taken by the mainstream media for the purpose of creating news."

Just explaining it did happen. I can't help who the president happened to be who did it. If it was Nixon or Reagan, I would've said so.
