I would LOVE to see some of these "so-called" "new" jobs. We still have a couple of hundred thousand new layoffs every week. Who knows how many have gone off of the unemployment roles onto welfare. The Unemployment rate does not reflect that number. To me a "new" job can only happen when ALL of the lost jobs have come back.

Good try OVM with the good news about the start up manufactoring company in Sandusky and the news on Whirlpool. I have been seeing things turn around since March personally and have talked to others that are quite satisfied and happy the way the trucking industry has been moving along, it is very encouraging.

Unfortuanately some people are just never happy and I am sure their will be more with the usual comments from the usual suspects.

It's not that we/they aren't happy it's that some of them think it will go back to the way it was, before the slide, that we will come out on top as a force to be reckoned with. I'm afraid those days are gone, it started before Obama( but he's done nothing to stop the life pulsating out of the US), it was before Bush ( but he was like Obama) Clinton didn't help either, in fact Clinton assisted by allowing Asia an open door into our business practices and showed them how it all worked, but it goes back farther than Clinton. Our children have been taught differently than us, new ideals for free trade (lol), world economy, the internet, satelite radio, television, the Berlin Wall came down, it all has affected the whole spinning orb we call Earth. People have to realize and realize soon that it is a new playing field, there a good points, and bad points, and as before we just have to find our own niche in the system and do what's right for us. I'm glad their are signs of new life in the work force, anything is better than nothing.

ok.."replacement jobs" whatever...it is putting a paycheck "for no matter how long right now" in someones pocket...The fact is an American is going to work....period...I don't care where it came from right or left...and I give no credit except corporate America..doing what it does....trying to make money...

I am not so sure. Durable goods orders have dropped for the last two months. If business was moving forward they would be up. I give the economy a "mixed review" at this time and it seems to be trending down. WHY? If I knew that I would not be expediting.

Granted the economy has stalled some, but then we are also in the dog days of summer with full vacation times and the usual slow downs....so that may contribute as well...there is still a big uncertainty out there, people scared to spend and get caught short if the unthinkable happens...

Sometimes there is a "natural" slowdown this time of year hopefully that is all it is. Retail sales have dropped for the last two months as well. With any luck things will bounce back fast. I REALLY hope that this is not the beginning of the second and maybe deeper leg of the recession. Tax increases will deepen any problems.

other countries are in the same pickle...so many factors out of our control...it is a nightmare situation...

Part of a normal business cycle made worse by government stupidity and corruption. Other than that................. Nothing really all that new. It has just been a while since times were tough. Many people younger than us have never seen this. You and I have been through it before. People survive. People could could survive a lot better without government running their lives.

It's certainly better to hear of 30 jobs being recovered rather than 30 more being lost. It's no cause for celebration though and no thanks to the regime in power. When every American who lost a job due to this regime is employed and more Americans are hired beyond that point then we can consider things improving and celebrate. I'm sure there are some who find crumbs satisfying but when you are expecting a 7 layer cake and get only a few crumbs that's not enough to be satisfying or seem positive to many people.

Yea-p it is good to see people getting jobs and those lines coming back....but as Leo said : "It's no cause for celebration"

Still 16% unemployed and it will get worse. Watch what happens in the 3rd and 4th qusrters...any groth that the economy has gained is going to drop like a rock...

Oh and Freight tonnage is down for the 2nd month in a row...the 1st time for that since march april 2009....

ARLINGTON, VA — The American Trucking Associations’ advance seasonally adjusted (SA) For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index decreased 1.4 percent in June, although May’s reduction was revised from 0.6 percent to just 0.1 percent. May and June marked the first back-to-back contractions since March and April 2009. The latest reduction lowered the SA index from 110.1 (2000=100) in May to 108.5 in June.

Thats right and 16% of America isn't working....and barry told the world it would not get past 8% if he could only get his "stimulus".....

Oh and its only a "wash" for the "industry"...it's also a sign that the economy is still slowing and going down again....as you said retail is down, people aren't spending money, companies aren't buying inventories....companies aren't hiring in any numbers that will improve unemployment because they have no idea what barry is going to do to further turn the country into a 3rd world nation....

Ah..tonnage down but profitability is up due to capacity reductions....so they offset...

I could counter and one could counter offer...but it is all pure speculation....

and surprising no one mentioned retail sales also have slipped...

I mentioned the dip in retail sales in post #10. So there!!

There are still a few companies that actually make stuff here.
One such company is
MacNeil Automotive Products Weathertech.com
Their products are more expensive since they are made here but in my opinion, you get what you pay for. I have used their products in various cars and have never been disappointed.
Just noticed a new advertising campaign in the car mags I get so this is why they are on the top of my mind:)

Who said anyone was celebrating, it was a mention of a start up manufacturing company and another company bringing jobs back to the states, that's it. Like I predicted the usual suspects showed up to moan about the administration this, the administration that, Obama did this, Obama did that, etc, etc.

When every American who lost a job due to this regime is employed

Do tell, what number would that be? How many jobs were lost because of this regime as you call it? None of the jobs lost were because of greedy corporations, Wall Street, unscrupolous financial institutions? They were lost because President Obama was sworn into the White House 18 months ago?

We manufacture NOTHING in this country anymore, except the car industry, so yeah, when OVM posted about two companies that are putting Americans back to work, it is good news. Something to celebrate? naaaa, but it is good news. Heaven forbid the usual suspects in here say anything positive because if you did, it may be construed as you agree with our President or should I say the regime. The story had nothing to do with the President, the Democratic Congress, politics, just trying to throw a small nugget of good news in here in which was swiftly stifled by the rhetoric that we are so used to hearing. Get off the political blogs, stop watching cable news, turn off the radio talk shows, and live life a little.

Yep, a few new jobs opened. The FACTS still remain that retail sales are down, durable goods orders are down, home sales are down. That has NOTHING to do with talk shows. Unemployment is NOT going down. That has nothing to do with talk shows. Obama is not the sole cause but his policies and that of this congress are hurting this economy. Government is the PROBLEM, it has been for YEARS and will continue to be the problem until WE change the government. WE must take back control. THEY are NOT the rulers. The power in this Nation resides with the PEOPLE first, THEN the States and last and least, the feds. Until that is restored nothing will get fixed.

WHy do you bring up the negative? WE all know of that stuff..gee whiz....I mention something good happening to a few Americans and all you do is throw up the same old crap...get some new material for crying outloud...;)

Yeah, I know, I took off my rose colored glasses again. How stupid of me. I will quit bringing up the reality of life today when it changes. When unemployment drops dramatically, when jobs return wholesale from overseas and Mexico.

I do hope those jobs work out for those people. ANY job that opens up is better than none. Nothing has really changed. Reality is not negative, it just is.

Even though they are on the radio saying the economy is failing, it sure doesn't seem like it here. All the parking lots are full of people shopping. When we go out to eat we have to wait for a table because the restaurants are full. The economy here seems to be very rosey:D

Yeah, lets throw a party for the recovery that is NOT happening. Reality is what it is.

I'll say it again, no one is throwing any parties because of what OVM wrote, nobody said the recovery is over, get it through your head.

Instead of posting negative comment after negative comment here in EO maybe you should be reading those leaked documents so that you can inform us uninformed citizens here in the Soapbox.

Better yet, I think you need a vacation or maybe your company isn't running you enough and you have too much down time, either way you really need to get away.
