attempted capital murder

OK my liberal friends. Take a deep breath. This common sense is going to explode your head.

A team was driving through Canada. A soccer ball size rock was thrown from a bridge. It crashed through the windshield missing the driver by inches. Fortunately the driver maintained control. No other damage was done and no other drivers were harmed. It could just have easily resulted in multiple homicides. True story. I know the team.

Now for the head exploding. The terrorist who did this (yes, (s)he's a terrorist whose goal was to create terror in the truck attacked if not also in others) should be convicted and sentenced to at least 20 years hard labor to compensate for part of the cost of incarceration. If a death results from such an act then capital punishment should be the penalty.

It's time to punish actions severely enough so almost everyone is disinclined to do them anymore. Common sense.

Leo,
Like other European nations, they have taken a more civil approach to this with light sentences and so on. If it happened say in Denmark, they would be allowed to live with their family in a state provided home but not allowed to leave the compound - hard punishment.

While the idoit(s) definitely tried to induce terror (chances are that never entered their feeble mind, they just wanted to create a situation) they aren't terrorist, they simply are idiots that tried to commit murder.....they should be tried as such....to call them terrorist it is invoke the same ideals as hate crimes, crimes are crimes, there is no need to complicate the issue... they attempted murder, try them as such and let the cards fall were they may.....

So Leo, I understand what you are getting at but the last time I looked, and my point really was that Canada can define terrorism any way they want, this is a foreign country.

We have a lot of other things to be concerned about here and until we invade Canada, all we can do is hope people don't come to any harm with this stupid behavior.

I should have been more specific as to when they do the same thing here and they do according to what I hear on the local news from time to time. You are right, we can't do anything about the prosecution or punishment in Canada. We just need to be SEVERE in punishing criminals in this country.

But Leo I got the point that throwing anything off a bridge or embankment is a bad thing, we have had a lot of things here happen like that but realistically, we can't do much about it because of a lack of a justice system and the need to rehabilitate the criminal.

I'm all for Maxi style jails, marginal food intake and so on for criminals, not a problem for me but the real issue is that we as citizens have a government who has brainwashed up by saying we can't police our own neighborhoods but have to have government do that for us.

I think things would be better off if we policed ourselves.
