Hauled some replacement parts for one of these last week.

According to research I did online, the federal government appropriated $200 billion for ten of these to be built and delivered to the DOD in 2008. Unbelievable!

They be gett'in old there Jack. you know, replace your horse? I be riding one to Hawaii here pretty soon, hope I get an "experienced" one tho. Never been to wild about the new shiny anything.

doesn't the gov already have a bunch of these?

Based on a buy of 120 C-17s beginning in 1993 and with the last being delivered in 2004 that was the original nunber. They have a design service life of 30,000 hrs. with the fleet aging more were ordered with delivery slated through 2008 bringing the total to approximately 200 according to on-line documents.
