Is what I thought even before reading the last sentence, lol. All the [billboard] advertising that promotes competition and 'winning' sure hasn't helped put drivers in a more courteous state of mind - maybe this could have a better result?

America loves competition, Japan loves cute. A university study on cute done by researches who love cute in a culture who reveres cute that affirms that cute plays a significant part in the thought process isn't much of a surprise. This is the same culture that is obsessed with anime images of young girls with exaggerated large eyes and big heads wearing schoolgirl outfits. Repeat the experiment with pictures like that and the students probably couldn't find three twos in a baseball box score with 2 on and 2 outs with a 2-2 count in the 2nd and the score tied at 2.

I have always found this cute animal picture to be both inspirational and calming.
