Class 8 trucks are meant for long haul 48 states. They have larger engines and are make to last longer Class 7 trucks are made for regional haul and local delivery. They have smaller engines and are not made for long haul use. Most expedite trucks use to be almost all class 7. Now more...

    Comfort Pro APU BLUES!!!

You have the 6000 series Comfort Pro they have the 1000 hr oil changes. The peoblems are with the older 5000 series which requires oil changes every 500 hrs. Also the 6000 series uses the the R134 freon the 5000 series uses the R22 freon, that is where the problem comes in. with the 5000 series...

    Decent place to buy batteries?

About ten years ago, after having repeated problems with batteries in my Freightliner Century,I was told to stay away from Alliance batteries as they were an inferior battery. This came from a Freightliner dealer and a Fleet Pride parts center. After I changed to another brand of battery my...

Missing the Point on Speed limiters

Nobody is making Canadians run in the US, if they don't want to follow the HOS rules they can just run in Canada. Its the same with the speed limiters, if you don't want to limit your truck then don't run in Canada

    Comfort Pro APU BLUES!!!

You can't use the R134A in the R22 units. Bill moore does the upgrades, he has a price list, TSI is a great place for all body and engine work also. They fabricate a lot of their oun stuff and stand behind what they do, and they don't charge for the so called 'shop supplies" like most other...

    Comfort Pro APU BLUES!!!

The problem is with the hoses on the units using R22, and you need to be R22 certified to use R22. The newer units use the A34 (Ithink thats right, its 34 anyway). The hoses on the R22 models let the freon seep out with no detection. See above post.

    Comfort Pro APU BLUES!!!

Here is the deal about the freon leaks. The freon is leaking through the AC hoses. The leak does not show up with any dye or pressure test because it is such a small leak, it takes a few months before it is noticed. One day you turn the AC on and the unit freezes up. I was having the same...

    EEEK! Problems with Carrier....GULP

Thick is NOT good, thick IS sludge, black is ok, when the oil turns thick it loses its viscosticy (spelling) and can wreck the engine. Without changing the filters you leave the buildup of sludge in the old oil filter, not a good thing. The sludge is from not doing regular PM on the APU. Sludge...

    EEEK! Problems with Carrier....GULP

the oil filter is a spin on you can get at it by taking off the upper and lower diamond plate covers, you need to do it anyway to change the fuel filter. NAPA catties both filters. On the engine is a plate with the model number, write it down and give it to the counter guy. The engine is a...

    T300 Gearing Stinks

I've always liked the Michelin over the Bridgestone. gearing between the tranny and rearend is everthing. Most of the expediter straight trucks are streached unless custom ordered from the factory. I never liked class 7 trucks for expediting, especially with a team. I owned two class...

Comments on Ford 5.4L gas engine and 5spd combo?

I believe he is talking about the 5 speed auto tranny as opposed to the 6 speed auto.

Comments on Ford 5.4L gas engine and 5spd combo?

I would spend the extra $6k for the diesel with the 6 speed tranny. Don't think the 5.4L gas will hold up for OTR use. I have the 5.4L with the 5 speed in my F 150 and get around 17mpg highway empty. it's a nice engine, runs well but wouldn't want it for commercial use, especially OTR.

    speedco or other service centers

As long as warranty is not an issue then it might be a good thing. Personally I don't know if I would want to go that long without an oil change. I would have to look at the PSO1's warranty and garranty to see if they stand behind their product incase of engine failure. What companies money...

    Best Expediter Truck

We love our Wester Star. Plenty of room in the cab. We have the stock 82" Ultra High sleeper and it works great for us. We also have the MBE 4000 series engine with the Eaton Ultra shift tranny. Over 200K miles and no complaints.

    speedco or other service centers

If your truck engine is still in warranty wouldn't you have to stick to the manufacturers oil and filter change guide lines to keep the engine in warranty. I would think that if you didn't the engine maker could say you did not perform the PM at the proper milage and could void your engine...
