    FEDEX CC Recruiting unresponsive!

Thanks again, ATeam, for all your assistance and advice in this matter. I really did want to try this, but all the research and financial spreadsheets I worked on pointed towards a long drive off a short pier. You all impress me;) This business is rough - more so than many others I've...

    FEDEX CC Recruiting unresponsive!

Well, they said they weren't recruiting any trucks "for the west coast" any time soon, no matter what class. I don't want to relocate nor deadhead from Arizona given the ridiculous fuel costs, so I think I've decided on another path for now. Thanks for all you help guys, appreciate it...

    FEDEX CC Recruiting unresponsive!

Hey guys, Update here... Someone called me back last week, answered some of my questions, noted it was odd that I didn't receive a callback with all those voicemails. Anyways, I got the info packet (nice insert, Ateam ;) ) and I'm currently looking through it. He did mention that...

    FEDEX CC Recruiting unresponsive!

OK, So I've called them and left a message four times at THREE different recruiter's voicemails. I've left two phone numbers with each message, and my address so they can send me more info. NADA. It's been over a month since I started leaving nice, pleasant messages and nothing. No...

    CDL-A College degree!

You had one experience with a bad driver from a school and you dismiss the entire idea? I would think it's a good idea to get students with a lot of theoretical knowledge in their heads before they get in the truck for the real training... I do agree that the certificate won't get me a...

    CDL-A College degree!

Yep, checked into that. $3200 for 160 hours of training, 23 college credits (plus 6 paid weeks of an externship $2400 or so) And its just about as worthless as a bachelor's degree in learning how to succeed in real life.;)

    CDL-A College degree!

Well, here's something that's kind of funny: Pima Community College : Professional Truck Driver - Certificate My local community college (I think the 5th largest in the country) has a truck driver program for 23 college credits. Seeing as I have around 40 credits from them already, if I...

    re:beware leasing

Re: beware leasing Sorry to hear about the truck, its seriously sucks to have mechanical problems with vehicles that pop up out of nowhere. I guess at least you had somewhat of a warranty of sorts, otherwise you'd be out even more $$. I'll take it under advice if I buy a truck to have...

    Let's Talk Deadheading home!

Yeah, sweet! Thanks for all the info about the West. Looks like I'll be needing a reefer! I'll bet anything that it would be a priceless asset in the hot desert. 126 F in the summer in Yuma, anyone? Anyways, this plan seems to be sweeter by the day.:D

    Let's Talk Deadheading home!

Hey tcoupe, Where in AZ do you live and how do you like Expediting in relation to where you live? Every gotten any runs in the West? I'm starving for some West Coast info.

    Let's Talk Deadheading home!

That seems like a good policy at Panther, makes a lot of sense. I think I heard something about the Fed CC offering a similar service, maybe someone with them can chime in?

    Let's Talk Deadheading home!

OK, so... I'm based in ARIZONA. AZ is supposedly a wee sleepy for expedited freight. Phoenix is the 6th biggest city in the USA, but we're sleepy. Go figure. My question is about getting back here sometimes. Suppose I run all up and down the East Coast and Midwest until my azz falls off...

    Calculating per mile costs?

    Expediters Going Hungry, For Real

I know it seems a bit out of place for me to say this when I've been here only a little while, but why is everyone so negative towards ATeam? Am I missing some posts of him insulting everyone's mom or something? I met Phil and Diane last week in person, they are genuinely nice folks...

    Calculating per mile costs?

OK, so what calculations are you guys using (can you break it down so I understand better?) to see what runs you take and are profitable? e.g.: A run pays $2500 to go 1500 miles, so $1.67 per mile. What do you then figure into the calculation? Fuel burn obviously, but then what? Truck...
