Canada Good Locations to Layover in Ontario

An amendment to my remarks about the Drumbo Rd exit 250 truck stop. I noticed the last couple nights the lights being on, so I remarked on the CB about the guy forgetting to turn off the lights. Somebody came back and said they have new owners there and are open 24 hours now, and that they have...

Canada Good Locations to Layover in Ontario

The Husky at exit 195, and Fifth Wheel at 199 in the London area always have lots of parking. I see lots of expeditors parked at the Petro Pass on Wilton Grove Rd in London, just off exit 186 on the south side of the 401. Not sure how many stay overnight there since the building is closed at...

    Parking solution

Sounds like someone "can't handle the truth". I went back and read the original post. It seems Coco was given permission, not once, but twice, to do her business. She didn't say what time she parked there, but it appears the security guard gave her time to do what she needed to, and move by...

    Parking solution

Or they will simply say "Truck drivers are jerks and we don't want them here anyway". I agree with turtle. You were right up to the point of the grocery manager making the phone call. Then when he resolved the issue, you should have taken your groceries back to the truck and shut up about it...

    Canada Whats on your computer?

It would likely be left to officer discretion, based in part on your beleivability. It would be helpful if the google search could be replicated to show that page came up in a totally unrelated topic search.

Tell me if this is a mistake.

Take away the weight of the 3 of you, your stuff, fuel. Does your sleeper have a shower/toilet, with associated water/waste tanks? Unless full fuel is already built into the weights, I think your payload is closer to 7k.

    Trucks passing in the night

I don't have an issue with a driver flashing me the high beams since I'm not staring into the mirror, I glance at it. I also give a quick flash of my high beams, since my truck also has daytime lights. But it's a quick on and off motion, where the brights aren't on for more than a quarter of a...

    Daiimler/Chrysler exporting jobs

We have a Sterling plant just down the road, so this was front page news in our paper this week. They are apparently building this new plant near the one that makes the Dodge Ram pick-ups. Those workers make $150US/week, compared to the $1000US+/week the workers here make. We've got 650 or so...

    401 crash

I drive the 401 nightly from London to Toronto. The Woodstock to Kitchener stretch is the worst, since it is still 2 lanes each way with just a narrow ditch median. They are working on widening to 3 lanes each side with a wall in between, and this should be done late 2008, so the highway from...

    Freightiner Layoffs in North Carolina

Both Sterling and International in my neck of the woods have announced pretty big lay-offs, but Sterling says they expect to be back to normal later in 2007. The company I work for bought over 100 tractors in 06 with the expectation to not get any in 07, but now they realize they really do need...

    Canada Whats on your computer?

It should be clarified that Lucy isn't with "the authority", unless you use that term in the sense of someone with extensive knowledge on a subject. Canada Border Crossing Services is a company providing pardon and waiver application assistance, but they aren't a government agency or the people...

    Canada Traffic Rules - Streetcars

And unfortunately many bus drivers think that yield sign means you have to stop for them wherever they want to go, not just out of a bus stop.

Things would be so much easier if they just started fingerprinting newborns LOL.

It's like in the late 70's/early 80's every second guy called himself Snowman, after Smokey & The Bandit LOL. Do people even use handles anymore? LOL

    WHOSE COLORS ARE THEY?

I was just going back and forth on the Fedex between the 2, and it looks like cc has a bit darker shade of blue than Kinko's to my eye anyway. But they are very similar.

    In the Box

I think it's a sign of pride in my company and respect for the customer that I drop a clean trailer there every day. I would be embarrassed to have my customer see what our trailers look like after they've been unloaded. Little pieces of cardboard, plastic straps, sometimes contents of boxes...

    HOS Discussion

If you are already tired when you start out, knowing you only have 5 hours to go isn't much help, since the 5 hour break you get isn't going to be enough anyway. At least with 10/10, you have a long enough time off to get proper rest. But I agree the guy with the first 10 on is going to be in...

    HOS Discussion

As far as I understand it, the 2 hour thing doesn't stop the clock. It only reduces the next rest period by those 2 hours. But if you start at 6am, your clock ends at 8pm whether you take the 2 hours or not. I also understand there are 100 different interpretations from 100 different people so I...

Eaton-Fuller Super 10 Lightning Series for tractor

RE: Eaton-Fuller Super 10 Lightning Series for tra I always pre-selected the upshifts before moving the shifter. As soon as I went into a gear, I would move the splitter to position for the next gear, whether that involved moving the shifter or letting off the fuel. As for downshifting, for...
