I have my truck and trailer for A. Blair. What a surprise when I got in and discovered it had a Super 10!!!! I've never used a Super 10.
The good news is that I figured it out and drove bobtail about 60 miles and with a trailer attached for 15 miles.
But, I float gears. I've been somewhat successful upshifting, but my downshifting sucks floating and double clutching.
Does anybody out there have any advice on the following:
1. When I shift 4th to 5th, the splitter is up for 4th. Do I float it into 5th then put the splitter down? Or do I flip it down as I'm shifting?
2. Same question 6th to 7th.
No question on 8th to 9th. The Lightning automatically shifts and downshifts 9 and 10 irregardless of what position the splitter is in.
3. When I downshift from 7th to 6th, the splitter is down. It needs to be up for 6th. When do I flip it up? Before I shift or as I'm shifting?
Right now the toughest thing is keeping track of what gear I'm in in. The position of the shifter is no longer the key to my gear. Now I have to know if my splitter is up which really makes me feel like a new driver in trucking school. Of course, my speed and rpm's are the best guide. But give me a break for now. Don't tell me how dumb I am because I'm not using the speed and rpm to keep me from grinding.
Thanks to anybody who has experience with this.
