Insufficient priviliges but I want to reply

There is a Landstar forum post by Team Caffee regarding agents. I can't reply to their post but hope this will make it to the rest of you. I don't know no agents but I was intrigued that they are still using Streets and Trips. Me too!!!! I just love the software and curse Microsoft every day...

    Retiring at 62

If I retire at 62, I can still earn $14,620 before it affects my SS benefits. If I'm self-employed and receive a 1099, is it my net after expenses? If I get a normal paycheck, is it my gross income? Just wondering if I can work part time so I don't lose my mind sitting at home.

    Winter wipers on a Sprinter

Looking for recommendations for good winter wipers. Sick of stopping to remove the ice and snow that accumulates. What do you recommend? Thanks.

    Espar time of year

Another winter coming and another winter I'll be cozy in my Sprinter thanks to my Espar Heater. I will never regret my installation last year at Espar of Michigan. Best improvement I ever made to this van. I used it last night in Ft. Pierce, FL!!! Who would have expected that? With...

Two If By Tea in Joplin

Rush Limbaugh has started marketing a new iced tea. He held a contest to give away a Reefer full of his new tea to a deserving community on the 4th. Well, Joplin won!!! I have a delivery in Wentzville Tuesday morning. I picked up in Laredo Friday and have been at home in Arlington, TX this...

Kudos to all the help I got

For those of you who didn't see my posts about the trouble I had charging my aux batteries, I just wanted to share how everybody who responded to my post helped me. Espar of Michigan, one of my favorite companies to do business with, who sold me my isolator and 150 amp breaker, was very...

Charging my Aux batteries. What am I doing wrong?

I've read everything I can find but appear to have something wrong. I have a 2010 Sprinter. I'm using 4 gauge wire throughout my circuit. From the positive terminal of the van battery I am wired to a 150 amp breaker. From there, I am wired to a fairly expensive battery isolator. All...

Bought me an Espar from Espar of Michigan

I got a load from Middleboro, MA to Lansing, MI Monday 10/18. When I knew I had the load, I called Espar of Michigan to see if they could fit me in for an install in my 2010 Mercedes Extended Sprinter. Very accommodating as long as I didn't mind them starting the install until after 5 PM. I...

    Texas Border Closings

We received a message last night from NLM that the Texas borders were closing for commercial vehicles from Friday night until some opening 9 AM Sunday morning. By 4 PM Sunday, all the borders would be back open and to prepare for lots of freight coming over. Were any of you aware of this...

    Front Page Blogs

Kudos to the Caffee's for keeping their blog current. Part of what makes a web page interesting is seeing new things on the main page. I see Dale updated his blog yesterday. Now, if we could keep them all current they could be very interesting. Thanks, Caffee's.

    Proof for Per Diem

As a Class A and Class B driver, I have had log books to prove my time away from home. If I were to become a non-CDL driver, what proof can I use as a substitute for log books?

    PrePass Discount on FedEx Forum

I couldn't post a reply on the FedEx Forum, I guess because I don't have privileges in that forum. Anyway, isn't the OOIDA discount for PrePass cheaper than what FedEx may have been giving you? I thought it was $13.50 with OOIDA. (I'm a member and have PrePass but I keep forgetting to...

    Another GPS question

Well, here goes. I am a true believer in Streets and Trips with GPS on my laptop. Although it doesn't have truck routing, I've survived most routes. I've gotten into the habit of calling the shipper and consignee to get truck routing to their location which I can put into Streets and Trips...

    CA Idling and Carb laws

I've been wondering what the new rules are in CA and was worried about going there. But, based on what I've just read on Layover.com, I think most of us will be fine so long as we voluntarily shut our engine down after 5 minutes of idling. It looks like even our APUs are fine for now. Here is...

    Junior Member?

How did I become a junior member? I've been around for a while. Is it based on how many posts you have? Inquiring minds want to know. Never mind. When I posted it, it came up with me being a senior member. That was a pretty fast promotion. Wish it had been that fast when I was in the Navy.

Warning about Streets & Trips 2008

I was just reading the posts about the Garmin. I decided long ago to stick with Streets and Trips because it was so inexpensive and allowed me to plan very well using my laptop because I could see so much more about the route than a device on my dash would allow. At first, I didn't use GPS...

    Kudos to Dave

Well, Dave. Are you filling in for Jeff? That was a very well written article on costs. I've always been impressed on how aware you are of the costs to operate a truck(s). Everybody should pay attention to your advice. I work for A. Blair; worked for FECC and Panther(in your truck). They...

    Directional signals and A/C

When I drove for Dave, we had a funky directional signal that also controlled the wipers. For no apparent reason, when I changed lanes, the wipers would go across my windshield and smear all the bugs so that I couldn't see. I could be sitting at a stop light, and the wipers would decide it was...

    Back to A. Blair

It's Sunday afternoon, the 26th and my rental car is packed and chewing at the bits. It's telling me to get off the dime and start my journey to Louisville...again!!!! I'm out of the T/T and back in a straight. The 96" sleeper was too good to pass up. And, I've never worried about making...

    Speed and fuel

When I drove for Davekc, he told me that there was a chart/graph that showed how much more fuel was being burned as the truck speed increased. Does anybody know where I can find that information? When I drive, I have a tendency to drive as fast as I'm allowed, which may not be the most...
