Could be a injector or speed sensor. That engine has two of them (speed sensors). Either one could give you those symptoms if you have ruled out the fuel pump.

The only mistake you made was not confirming if this place had the alternator. Outside of that, your choices become limited. Having it towed to the consignee or going the repair route you did is likely the outcome. Your other option as mentioned, is to facilitate the whole repair yourself...

I would recommend Seafoam. Works wonders in boats with diesel engines. They will build up stuff in the tanks quicker than a truck will because of alot of dock time. Then again, after reading some of the latest posts, it seems there is some extended rot times going on out there.

Not sure why you would sit for two weeks? A gallon of diesel is roughly 7.3/7.5 pounds per gallon. Or in your case, roughly 110 gallons need to be subtracted from your tanks to get to 800 lbs. If your capacity is 140 per side then 280 minus 110 gallons and you are there for the quick fix. No...

Reputation is the key. Especially when there are many fly-by-night owners that have no business being an owner. Get the names & numbers of current and past drivers. Past history isn't a cure all but it will tell you how past dealings have went.
