Married Couple Looking to get into the Expedite Business.

I think Phil's post is spot on. But I will also add, that many run for a fleet long term. Many times a fleet driver will net more than a owner operator. With that said, some of it depends on how the fleet is operated. In our case, all but one of the teams are former owner operators with the...

It’s my money and I want now!

Sometimes it isn't the dollar amounts, but the actual transparency. Many carriers lose credibility when they claim they don't make money on something when they clearly do. It amazes me when some of them will lie, cheat, nickel and dime contractors, fail to disclose the simplest of things and...

    How's it Going at Landstar?

Now that you mention it, there is a thought to ponder.

I know who has 5 of the others. :p

Where is the best place for Tractors?

To answer this kind of question requires more information. For example, is the driver not satisfied with the miles, revenue, the carrier or everything? Good money in being a bed bugger or car hauler, but it takes a certain type of person to do it. That kind of thing. Have to know the...

    EOBR Regulation Vacated by Court

Makes you wonder what will happen with the mandated recorders on the Mexican trucks coming in? Probably sue and win and we will be paying the Mexican carriers a ton of money because we hurt their feelings.

    How's it Going at Landstar?

Yep. There is plenty doing it now. That is why I pay little attention to some of the goofy posts claiming a certain gross amount and nothing else. It means little unless you have all the information.

    How's it Going at Landstar?

Only certain loads can really be "defined" as exclusive use. All others I consider "freight". Double loads strictly by Panther are not as common as the ones you can set up yourself.

    How's it Going at Landstar?

There are many "versions" of cheap freight. I would be the first to admit that if the opportunity is there, I will double dip the system to move a truck at a high rate. I'll use the DT quote. "It isn't anything personal, its just business".

    We are expediters

There will always be some banter in a public forum. Some are just plain bored, and others are trying to hard to be offended.

    How's it Going at Landstar?

Landstar requires six months experience and some companies require a year to two years. And some require none for certain vehicles. I don't see where their requirements are way above the others? Maybe I am missing something? We know several folks at Landstar and they didn't have to go through...

    How's it Going at Landstar?

I'm delighted Phil with your posts. It is great to see someone engage in the excitement and opportunities that we found when you see how others operate outside of just waiting on the beep. I also think some of your former comrads are also starting to realize just how much different things can be.

Carrier Appearal Question; Removing Old Logos

Now if we could get most to go along with that, it would be good for the whole industry. Still seeing quite a few rough ones out there at times.

    Vice or Virtue

That would be the correct answer. Have to always look at the big picture even when dealing with some of the new "high school dispatchers".

Carrier Appearal Question; Removing Old Logos

Since we have done both, I think it may benefit in some applications, and others it doesn't. I also agree there are some that are implying that if you don't have a uniform, then you must be wearing sandals, sweats, and a shirt with yesterdays dinner on it. I think presentable and...
