Your "nerves" are not the issue here. The blink'in lights are to wake you and other folks to the fact summpin's happin'n ahead. Not rocket science!! When you see blink'in lights you may want to put your flag up and pay tention.

Lots of folks CHOOSE to complicate the simple. The folks that have sat for ten seconds longer than the think they should seem to call dispatch and feel that the dispatcher should crap some freight for them. DON'T WORK THAT WAY!!! It's not Burger King, this business isn't. Wake up fools!!!

I've heard numbers from 25K to 75K severance for those poor souls bantered about, plus, retraining funds etc. Now, I don't know if performance I have observed from the dock workers is indicitive of the rest of that mob, but, i'd be hard pressed to offer two-bits before I sent them down the road.
