    This old Ice Breaker sailor has seen similar occurrences in Alaska where sheet ice, covering a harbor or bay, is wind driven onto the shore. It breaks up in a manner just like that youtube example. Waves don't freeze in mid-air, but it sure looks like they do.

    I've had several sets of the 245/75R16 Mich LTX on Chev and Ford vans. My last set was retired at 180,000 and had an average 4/32" when I did so. I could easily have matched your friend at 200K miles. COSTCO sells the E rated LTX for $755.46, out the door.
