I think if I do this I'll manufacture a strong external shelf welded and mount it to the rear door using bolts that penetrate through to the inside with a reinforcing strip as a backing strip. That way when the doors are open it'll be free & clear and I won't have to worry about inside storage...

Very interesting, According to the ones for sale at Sams Club they have a 8000 BTU that only uses 900 watts. I guess a 12K wouldn't be that much more? I am assuming that a 8000 BTU would be OK for a van and maybe a little smaller size wise? How do you set up the intake and exhaust? Big Al :p
