    Straight vs Sprinter vs Cargo

Why tandems? There are a lot of benefits to having just 6 wheels. Such as using the left lane in most states and not having to do 55 in California. Most carriers will not put more than 13,000 pounds on a straight truck and if you are not running a reefer box or a big sleeper you will probably...

    Straight vs Sprinter vs Cargo

My opinion, for what it's worth, is that just as much money can be made in a Sprinter as a straight truck if you are running for the right company. I've done a lot of cost comparisons on both. As a team we will stick with the straight truck for the space and comfort.

    OOIDA Says...

I support the right of the carrier or O/O to decide which to use. I too wish the FMCSA would make up there mind. And I do not believe that anyone should be forced to purchase EOBR's. As a team we like the EOBR. As a solo I did not like it at all.

    OOIDA Says...

So... "Company Policy" is the deciding factor???? Do "Company Policies" supersede FMCSA regulations? I though the point of the other thread about this was that since the court vacated the requirement to force EOBR's on carriers there was no longer a regulation which would allow the...

    Chains or cables?

Our chains will stay in the bags in which they came until we are forced to install them. We will then travel to the nearest safe place and sit until they are no longer required.

Mexican Trucks stay Home after Border opens

I wonder if anyone ever thought to ask the Mexican trucking companies if they even wanted to be able to come here.

Changing Carriers and Thanks to EO Members

Thanks. Not quite there yet. Still have a truck inspection on Monday and drug testing next week. Hope to go to orientation on 11/28. We would go sooner but our 19 year old son is coming home from the Navy for Thanksgiving. And Momma's gonna be home for that.

Changing Carriers and Thanks to EO Members

When we did a comparison between the first five months of this year on percentage and the last five months on flat rate we made a little bit more money, after all expenses, on flat rate. But we had to work harder to do it. We gave it a fair chance. 4 months as a team and one month as a solo...

    Slush Busters question

I cut off the afflicted end with a single edge razor blade and used a heat gun to melt the end closed and smooth it out. As long as it doesn't tear up my wiper blade I think it will work. If not I'll peel it off.

So You Sit or Do You Move? Try This Decision Aid

I tried it out using a few different scenarios. It would be very helpful for someone that has been with there company long enough to know the freight lanes and have some historical data to use. There are a lot of ifs to consider. An example: If I was sitting in Orlando with 5 other trucks and...

    Signage and Qualcomm Removal

Yesterday my wife and son removed all our FedEx signage using a heat gun. Today we used Goof Off to remove the glue. Now our box has nice clean areas where we used the Goof Off and really nice shadows from the old signage. Guess there is not much we can do short of having the box repainted...
