I believe this that there is NO driver shortage there is a shortage of driver pay and finally I think the companies are going to have to wake up - they either need to take a smaller cut of what they charge customers are the rate needs to go up. Here is a good article

Lucy I know how much you two have missed the ocean and I wish you two the best of luck. It was great knowing you and Sam and hearing your very interesting stories.
Just read a really nice article about these two! Those of you that attend the Expedite Expo I am sure know them as they have been attending for several years.
I really enjoyed the article in September 2014's issue but could not find it online to share.
Keep an eye out for a copy of this...
Tractors always give you more opportunities due to the amount of freight they are capable of hauling. They are also cheaper to purchase and are in great demand in this industry. If you have the qualifications to drive a T/T I would suggest you look that way especially if you are going to run solo.
Waiting 27 minutes on hold would be very frustrating I agree. I also imagine they were busy I hope taking load orders to keep everyone busy. It seems like it is really a interesting balance to keep enough people trained to take orders and answer questions from drivers and not be paying to many...
Jeff had the best sense of humor and he was fun to talk with. I also remember my last talk with Jeff when he said he had had enough and was done with staying alive by artificial means. He knew it was going to be quick and he had little time left.

It seems funny that you would think that... We do not lead a charmed life and we get our fair share of bad loads, bad roads, bad customers, bad weather, and bad days. The key is how do you handle bad situations that are beyond your control.
In our years of Expediting we have had a couple of these at least but as soon as they are over we forget them.

Just on the east side of Shoals, IN is Jug Rock located in the forest on the north side of highway 50. For those of you who have loaded at Crane IN going towards Louisville or to the SE you have probably driven by the rock.

Funny how online forums work and when I received the phone call from an unknown phone number that Ed Wallace had passed away... "I said Who?" and once again the unknown voice said Ed's wife wanted me to find you and let you know that Ed had passed away. Once again I asked Who? and he said oh...
We were able to meet John several time over the years and always enjoyed his company. Some of his stories would have me laughing so hard my sides would hurt for days. He was really a great guy and always willing to give anyone a helping hand. He is missed
What is the best carrier is the one where you fit and can make the most money. If you are with the best or the worst and you are miserable then who cares how much the carrier makes?
The bottom line to me is where do you fit to run the way you like with the best income for you. Each person...
How is this going to drive down rates? I did not realize that the qualifications to be in WG set rates?
The info was also in the weekly email and I do wish that qualifications to get into WG would go higher and if that can not be done get rid of WG as it does not mean much any more.
