More Doom & Gloom to preach!

Streakin, this is an excellent post! We all should be reminded to be attentive to our surroundings and to be a little more cautious than we might have been in the past.

    SMOKERS, For your consideration

We've found very few truck stops that are not smoke free now. I remember there were a few restaurants that had a completely separate dining room, behind glass walls and with ventilation systems for smokers. (Ft. Wayne and a place in GA come to mind). Even these places have gone completely...

    Killer Truck Drivers

The article takes what is a legitimate problem in some cases, and turns it into a "scare piece" for the masses. Typical reporting  I constantly get " Oh, you drive too?"

    Fleet Drivers

Best thing you could do is read back through the forums. There is also a classified section on EO that lists fleet owners that are looking for drivers.

    911

We've also called a few times. One night in IL, an elderly gentleman pulled out of the rest area headed in the wrong direction. Luckily, a trooper came just after he figured out he was going the wrong direction and was headed back into the rest area. We called 3 times about a drunk on I80 in...

How does your truck/fleet owner rate?

We have a great owner!! Excellent equipment, on time pay, etc. He provides us with one of "Col's" RV's ;) If we were ever to buy our own truck we would go with a smaller sleeper, larger box, dual axles, Onan generator, rooftop A/C, wabasto heater, large refrigerator, micro convection oven...

Introduction and in need of help

This doesn't sound right. If he doesn't pass, that isn't USA's fault, so why would USA release him without making him pay for the cost of the school? If it is right, I think I'd do as Charlee suggested, if he never plans on driving a tractor trailer. Have you considered "teaming" with your...

Morals, religion, and accepting certain loads

This thread has been niggling on my mind since I made my response. Shooter, you bring up a point. We've not encountered a load that we would consider "morally" wrong. That isn't to say that we've not hauled something that someone else considers wrong. Example, we've hauled alcohol in all...

    Would you take this run??

Although I always thought that a trip to Alaska would be an interesting adventure, I wouldn't want to make the trip in the winter. We experienced -40 in North Dakota a few weeks ago and it's something I don't ever want to go through again. When I think about how it might be with no real...

    On the road again

I was going to ask you if that was an option with FDCC. With Panther, we could run DDP runs with 1 cleared and the other in the process. We could not run PSS until both had clearance. We have had runs that didn't require a clearance, but both drivers had to be US citizens.

    EO 10 year's

We stumbled upon the EO booth at MATS as well. We were with Millis Transfer at the time running their "recruiting" trailer. We spoke to Lawrence and also to Phil (although I doubt that either would remember that) :p EO has been a wealth of information for us and continues to be. Whenever we...
