I won't deny that. They usually fail me after a couple of years anyway.
We had 4 Garmins and 4 vans until recently. One of the NUVIs crapped out so we sold a van too. I really like that 1:1 ratio. ;)
Garmin. I'm on about my 4th or 5th in 10 years. Just not worth updating them.

You're a long way from any high volume freight areas. Just try to stay central as much as you can. Most brokers like a pick arrival within about 90 mins on the "ASAP" picks.
I'd stay there a bit. Between Tucson, Phoenix & Nogales you should be able to snag something.
But that ALL depends on IF your carrier is actually watching for a load for you.
It happens. We like the shorties too. Can usually get a silly per mile rate on them. One just has to be careful and be sure to either get all miles or enough to let that load finance your deadhead to a decent area.
