Maybe neither. I ran a 184 mile load today and no First Out, but it did put me 35 miles from home!

    Do you carry extra keys?

Do you carry extra keys? Yes I do!I keep one key either in the ignition or toss it in the cup holder. I have another key stashed in a secret magnetic key holder hidden on the driver's side frame rail just south of the second body mount point. I have another van key on my 6" diameter key...

    Cargo Vans Again

Leo, how do you calculate your mpg? Do you record fill to fill or have an on-board (factory or add-on) computer?

    First Outs

In the past two weeks I have received a F.O. upon delivery for a 175 mile load and 176 mile load. I did not negotiate either of these F.O.'s. Is this a new policy for under 200 mile loads or a Christmas present just for me?

Starting out with a cube van

Why a cube van? Does this local company require more volume capacity than a standard long cargo van? What is the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of this Penski cube van? The GVRW can be found on the driver's side door pillar. Cube vans can be heavy. If this van weighs more than 7000...

    Verizon 4G LTE

I think you are right or in my case 2 years, but I can live with that. Turtle, what is this NE2 that your aircard is long overdue for? What is the NE2 discount and would Verizon offer it to some idiot like me who doesn't even know what it is? One more question, does the Panther discount...

    What is owed you?

I personally would wait until being released by my carrier and have the dry run info come across on the Q.C. if I wanted to get paid.

    What is owed you?

I agree! More precisely, lack of communications is often the issue.

Of course phone browsers can use compression technology. Without such technology phone browsers would experience the "bends" requiring time out in a decompression chamber; wasting both bandwidth, time and money.

    What is owed you?

Your carrier may call you a BCO, PBO, Partner, BMOC or good buddy but you are still just a truck driver. The paying customer, shipper, carrier and 3PL don't care about your time until it starts to cost one or all of them money. If your contract's detention time doesn't kick in until after two...

    Verizon 4G LTE

The Verizon 4G plan is $10 less than my current Verizon 3G plan for the same amount of gigabyte stuff. If switching to 4G still allows me access to the 3G world plus gets me admission into the 4G land of make-believe for $10/month less, why not sign up? I'm sure there is some kind of catch, I...

Or you are leased to a carrier as an independent contractor and should read and understand your contract. Sure the carrier can cancel the load and so can the O/O but neither should expect any compensation if it violates the terms of the carriers tariff with the customer or the O/O's contract...

    What is owed you?

Greg, in the real world it is the paying customer that decides if the load is to cancel or not. Dispatch can pull the driver off the load but the carrier will not be able to collect dry run or detention pay without the paying customer terminating the shipment.

    Verizon 4G LTE

I received an offer from Verizon the other day to upgrade my current 3G, 5GB, $60/month mobile broadband plan to their new 4G, 5GB, $50/month plan. I know that more G's are way more better and that saving an extra $10/month is super cool, but...would going 4G have any negative impact on 3G...

    What is owed you?

Quite often dispatch never communicates with the shipper. If the carrier's contract with the customer states detention time starts after 2 hours, then that's when it starts. It doesn't matter if dispatch trusts the driver or not. The paying customer has the final say.
