Thanks Moot, yeah I can pull big numbers but like I mentioned at the end of the year with the lost productivity I think my income is only around 30-40k and was around 50-60 when I had two sprinters moving, I'm undergoing some kind of transition. I'm planning on doing 3 things with my 06 Sprinter...
Can I realistically run 700-1400 mile hauls solo in a straight or is that delusional? Goals are to work hard for a month and take time off just be able to work and take time off when scheduled. With a van you end up getting a load, waiting a week or two to get another load back home and so much...
I just did 3500 on one Sprinter load but it was 10 clients non expedite. (so much lost productivity between loads) I think I make around 30-40k in a Sprinter as a owner operator so If I can get a straight and make 75k a year I'll be living like a normal American or maybe I'll just get a driver...
Wait for Davekc to chime in. He'll eat this post for dinner :D Oh wait he does teams, last I heard was 200k on a team for revenue to the truck so I figure a solo is capable of making half of that. You wanna walk a straight line or talk a straight line rate? ;)
I'm based in Austin Tx, Grand Rapids and Los Angeles.
Considering a smaller carrier, maybe V3, Expeditus or Bolt possibly, Fusion or Roadrunner just have to find the one that has the lowest weekly fees and good connections with Tx freight.
Class 8 looking better and better option these days if I can find someone to stretch frame inexpensively. Sprinters are under produced. If there were more on the road price would be less. Hopefully making them in the US will contribute to that.
What is the longest run for a Solo Straight, if you're are running example from Tx to California do they build enough time into the load to get your breaks and deliver on time?
I think you could do well in Dallas, it's a large city and you can get on with a few different companies for on demand or pick up a route. You will deadhead a lot and be paid less and have to make more stops but always home is a plus.
Thinking of buying a 2012/13 VNM 630 this spring, cheaper then a 2015/16 Sprinter. Would be my first! Thanks to Dart for making this possible, they ordered over 600 of those.
