20 or 22ft Box for Straight Trucks?

Can't you stack 10 and 10 for a total of 20 or do some shippers prefer not to stack? Seems like the 20ft box is enough to be in clear for the load but you give up room for personal stuff. So either 20 or 22 works, personal stuff might just have to stay in sleeper until load completed. 22ft...

Emphasis on "I" myself, plenty of good Sprinter mechanics out there to choose from if you can make it to their location depending on what part of the country you're in. Of course breaking down in the middle of no where is never planned. ;) It certainly pays to do your research and be in the know...

Which carriers are the best to sign on with?

A carrier that will let you freeze your contract from Jan 1st to April 1st and not have to pay fees while you take up local work. Innovation has it hit the shipping industry yet let me see if I can pull up a few more good ideas. ;)

Cargo Van Sprinter 4cyl who has one?

That year has the cross wind assist. I'd go for it, but they will even come down more in price when 2018 model comes out. I hear they ride like luxury compared to the 06's :D no bose ride for sprinter yet though.

    Straight truck specs expedite 2017

I remember posting a similar topic a few years back and everyone said to go class 8 for longevity and engine life. You can buy a class 8 truck at 400-500k and still have plenty of miles and smiles ahead. If I could make 2000 USD locally a week I'd give up the long hauls but I kinda enjoy them if...

Alternator replaced already (why take a chance after 150-200k). Carry a good spare starter after a recent break down in Chicago during a 0 degree cold front. Portillos next to hotel sure came in handy, nice walk in the snow/ice to grab dinner. Next question. ;)

Changes for prospective Canuck straight drivers

I hear straight truck rates are all over the place, probably best to call some companies and find out or have someone chime in. $1.45 to up to $2 a mile if you are the only truck in area and they need load covered. MPG would be half of a Sprinter on truck I'm looking at so no problem just...

If I was too lazy to find parts and qualified sprinter mechanics I probably wouldn't like the Sprinter either. Fortunately these things are available in most major cities and sometimes in abundance. ;)

Van market now vs last year?

Depends on carrier and how hard you wanna run. I won't run for less then .90 so I just stay at home and go on strike :D and I'm not going to put on my armor and fight for loads at a better rate, just let the .60 guy have it...

    Solo: Van vs Straight Truck

Shortage of work, honestly if there was more available I'd run more miles. $1 per mile days are long gone. I call my run what they refer to as a harvest up in Colorado. Get it while you can. Coming off a 3600 mile $6200 harvest just literately sitting here (going on 2 weeks of sitting). My...

    Solo: Van vs Straight Truck

I deadheaded 900 miles recently to haul a 1400 mile load but the load consisted over 7 drop offs. So on that run it wasn't the prettiest but I saw the light at the end of the tunnel and I got to take a shower before the departure and check into a hotel in Phx. Now I'm retired because I'm sick of...

    Solo: Van vs Straight Truck

I do make around 1.50 a mile but the miles are few and far between. :( So I gotta pick up a straight but could be till summer. Still researching and waiting on a phone call from truck supplier.

    Texas loads

Stated clear as the morning sunlight, she's looking for companies that have stronger connections in Tx. I see Bolt semi's coming up/down I-35 pretty regularly. But I'm sure more companies also have a good customer base down here. Houston was firing strong yesterday for the cargo vans. Loads...

20 or 22ft Box for Straight Trucks?

Was reading on this thread which looks outdated that a 16ft box is generally sufficient 85-90% of time. 22ft box is sounding the best just to be in the clear. It's kinda like having the short sprinter vs the longer one. I'd never go back to the shorter Sprinter. 3 skid capability and extra space...

20 or 22ft Box for Straight Trucks?

Just wanted to see what the general opinion and preference was on size for box and what is your height and width preferred to run expedited freight? I really would like to consider a 20ft box in the future but I don't want to lose loads over 2ft.

"comfort level" of straight truck vs van?

I'd rather be moving with a load at a decent rate then to be able to stand up and put on pants. ;) From my observation you can stand up in most sleepers depending on height.
