Sometimes you have to wonder

The story states that 95 out of 506 renewal applicants for hazmat had their CDLs canceled. It didn't exactly say why these 95 had their CDLs canceled. I agree with Ateam the hazmat is an endorsement. Failure to qualify should result in no hazmat endorsement, not revoking of the CDL...

    Have you seen this expediter?

Cheri, You should really post a picture of the googly eyes. They are way too funny to share with only a few. I think every member of EO would get a kick out of those pics. Hope the big cat in the sky has a sense of humor.

    Evolution or Revolution

I was at an Old Dominion terminal Monday. Advertising on the sides of their trailers touted "expedited service". I guess that was in reference to me. I picked up their freight and delivered it to their customer. Many TL and LTL carriers claim to offer some sort of "expedited" service. I...

    Heavy duty Roof racks anyone?

Naw, they are not a waste of money. Using my twice a year I figure I should start seeing a return on my investment in about 12 years. Besides if I ever roll my van into a lake or river I will float.

    Evolution or Revolution

I'm not so sure that the transportation "biggies" will absorb the expedite freight. Just two weeks ago a major transportation carrier divested itself of an expedite unit. Just prior to that unit's 10 year anniversary. I suspect they saw more competetion and declining profits. Both good...

    Heavy duty Roof racks anyone?

ImageIgloo.com
I use roof racks when I deliver freight to the Boundry Waters Canoe Area or Quetico Provincial Park. I usually get two loads a year going that way. I drive until the road ends...

    Conway Truckload

Hey Mike, Hope you landed on your feet. Let me know what you're up to. I'm hanging in there doing the blck power thing. Thanks for fielding the truckload question. I thought some of company owned truckload trucks were pulling LTL terminal to terminal. At least that's what my buddies at...

Thanks Art, Will they talk to me while I'm on Double Secret Probation.

    Conway Truckload

Any LTL they do is linhaul. Terminal to terminal. I think most T/T that stayed are doing this or truckload. They also have company equipment doing the same thing.

    Landstar Bashing

Ken, If Landstar doesn't hold your hand like how do you get up in the morning to pick up a load? Do you like have to set an alarm clock to wake you up. How bogus is that man. Like I got people who like call me and ask if I'm up and awake. And they keep calling me. Like how rightous is that...

    Enough with Panther Bashing...

Dave, How can I get online to check my account. Many things have never been explained to me. And to make matters worse I'm on Double Secret Probation for my problems yesterday. Woe is me.

    Panther Bashing Revisited

Well said ClasicOne. I never considered the fact that legal logging time is being consumed by sitting at someone's dock. In a perfect world there would be no detention time. But things happen. And when they do an O/O should be compensated for his or her's time and equipment. With Con-Way...

    Panther Bashing Revisited

Cheri, I wore the pants for my first trip, but man they were tight. Guess old Eldridge never sat long. Oooops, I promised no more black panther jokes. But you started it. I gave the single fist salute to a Panther D unit the other day. He replied with a single finger salute. That wasn't...

    Panther Bashing Revisited

Thanks Leo, Guess I'm just used to being treated like a professional. Under the laws of Con-Wayism we were refered to as PBO's. Professional Business Owners. Never much cared for that term but I did like being treated as a pro. I believe under Pantherism that 9 hours is the maximum...

    Panther Bashing Revisited

Leo, I'm a convert from Con-Wayism. I have had no orientation. They are paying me per my Con-Way contract. Same goes for the f.s.c. Con-Way pays after the first hour. I told them up front, before I even left for the pick up that I would wait 1 hour. As for the wake up calls, I'm a big boy...

    Panther Bashing Revisited

Mike, I didn't dream "about" Bernie. I just got mixed up in his dream somehow. If this is a "Mikey" day I hope I never have another one. It was probably my last "Panther" day though. Got a call from dispatch saying I had to go back to the shipper to qualify for dry run pay. then I got a QC...

    Wire barriers in median

I saw them stringing that stuff a couple of months ago along I-70. Didn't pay any attention to where in the median they were putting it. You're right, it doesn't make any sense to put them that close to the left shoulder. Unfortunately once it's done it's probably permanent, no matter how...

    Panther Bashing Revisited

I have been with Panther for exactly two weeks. The first week after the buyout I was OOS. I returned to service this Tuesday and promptly was offered a load. Panther has kept me busy all week. I even had to turn down a 950 mile load because I already had driven 150 miles and it was 120 more...
