    Carrier Reefer any Answers

Steve, I can only imagine if it wasn't. It would be a business buster if that thing was on a straight truck. Three months would put a few out of business I would think. But, I still think someone didn't have the cash to get it out.

    What it's like at Panther

That was already understood. He was refering to a carrier outside of Fedex without that restriction.

    no more FSC...oh my gawd

I won't volunteer anything on that other than whether the carrier supplies a phone number to the customer without going through the carrier to place the call. If you can't talk to the customer directly, then I would wonder why? Just another issue of transparency.

    no more FSC...oh my gawd

Don't see a carrier that would "guarantee" that. Or they would say they do only to change it later. Sound familiar? Then I would investigate what that customer really pays. Then, I would be either "happy as a pig in poop", or quickly become one of their competitors.

Hows the the new FedEx CC FSC program working for

We are similar in that we look at the load on its face value. I don't want to hear that the FSC is low because they are subsidising another or anything else. It either is profitable or it isn't. And yes, I want the 100 percent of the FSC rather than a prescribed formula from a third party that...

    Carrier Reefer any Answers

The problem with most of them is that Carrier is only open M-F. Then they back up and can't provide decent service. There are some good ones, but they are far and few between. Having to hold a unit for three months because they can't figure it out? Good grief. I almost have to think that some...

    What it's like at Panther

No that isn't accurate now. That was the case when they first started the program. They run at a flat rate now regardless of the run. That got corrected when I had a reefer truck in Elite. I stayed with dry vans because the revenue was similar to what the reefer was. But, I also work a little...

    What it's like at Panther

With regards to revenue, the numbers Dave posted are pretty much an average that has been posted by other in the past. Some weeks higher, and some lower. I think to get above that on a regular basis, one may have to broker some loads. Especially during the slower periods. The only real issue...

Hows the the new FedEx CC FSC program working for

I would agree with you in some respects. That is why I don't publish here on EO what I do with Panther. I think it would be misleading to someone new and have those same expectations. You are right in that our DH miles are 9 to 14 percent depending on the truck. That is why I don't put a lot...

Hows the the new FedEx CC FSC program working for

Your absolutley correct. It is more of a preference. Since I am a fleet owner, I am more revenue driven than lifestyle driven.

How much time do you need to accept a load

As long as Dave has been in the business, I hardly think he would move his trucks on the premise of a $300 insurance bill. Maybe a straw the broke the back on the remaining trucks, but not the initial ones. That was rather a goofy assumption Phil. Any move to another carrier is certainly a...

Hows the the new FedEx CC FSC program working for

I see the bigger issue as transparency from the carrier. It has little to do with whether "it is enough" so it must be ok. If one is only getting it when they follow the carriers direction, then it really isn't any different at Panther. If you go somewhere other than where the EM is directed...

    What it's like at Panther

You also fail to mention the fleet owners that move from Panther to other carriers. A bit one-sided, don't you think? I am sure there are some. I just can't think of any at the moment. My thought wasn't why he left but rather a source for the figures you are seeking.

You would know better than anyone since you have been both places.

    What it's like at Panther

I think Phil would be better served to talk to one of his former fleet owners that moved his trucks to Panther. I believe that would provide a clearer picture rather than a snapshot of a few days.

    What it's like at Panther

In your case running as a solo, that would have to be considered because the run lengths are shorter. It is pretty rare that we would DH over a hundred miles for a load and distance for the cons to a place to park is only a handful of miles. You still get paid depending on the contract your DH...

How much time do you need to accept a load

This is where it is of value for one to sit in with dispatch for a short time to see how the loads come in. The reality is that only a small portion require immediate pickups of 90 minutes or less. More often than not, loads have a lot more time than that. Only critical times are when there...

    What it's like at Panther

I would revisit the detention time issue. That should be in your manual. With regards to convincing you, it was rather easy I quess. Like anything, the convincing is in the numbers. With the way they operate, I don't think they feed new trucks any different than any other ones. One could...

    How Do You Get Home?

Give it a rest Phil. Your trying to spin your usual mile long BS when all that was discussed was an experience helping out some drivers. You are the one that jumped in when it wasn't necessary. One more thing, if someone calls for me to help them out, regardless of who the carrier is, I hardly...

    How Do You Get Home?

Thanks Steve. Your response on what those restrictions were should have been answered by Phil instead of his foolish response. I don't have to be contracted to a carrier to discuss a recent event in which I participated with that particular carrier. There wasn't anything negative other than to...
