    Fleet owners and home time

Some of what your talking about may depend on the size of the fleet owner. He/she may feel they can't afford to shut it down in a peak time of the year for that long. Hard to tell? For me personally, If you have been running 4 months straight and now are going to take three weeks off, that is...

    Need Advice Guys!!!

I am assuming this is the company you are speaking of. We have brokered from them but that is it. No clue on how they are to work for. Been around a couple of years. May want to check some of their competitors at the airport for their opinion. Just a quick snapshot. Express Freight Logistics -...

    Companies and Teams

All things are not necessarily equal. For a fleet driver much depends on the carrier and the fleet owner. I have never had much trouble showing many owner operators that our fleet drivers out earn them. A whole lot of things go in the mix. There are no absolutes.

    occupational health ins.

If you are physically in the truck, then it is likely required. I am aware that some smaller ones don't require it, but it would be foolish to do a driving job without some type of protection. Money well spent if you need it.

    Freaking out

It would depend on whether a team or a solo. A team would generate it must quicker obviously but much would depend on the company and how much you are running. We have been running well, but I just read another post with someone doing 3 loads in three weeks. It is really tough to put a exactly...

    Freaking out

Dodgeboy, I would say that is a pretty darn good post. Way too many folks jump in being under capitalized. Much of many successes are tied to luck and how well their carrier can run them. You struggled through with operating a van. Now imagine that same issue with a straight truck or a...

    Charging To Process Logs

It's the electronic logs that have lightened their workload, made them more efficient. If they can justify charging for paper logs, they should be able to equally justify paying everyone who is on electronic logs the same $6 for lightening their workload...

    Charging To Process Logs

There is more work to manually audit a paper log than there is one that has been computer generated. With regards to the fleet message comment. I am sure it is a reaction and frustration to issues covering some of the loads. But, the reality is that we are in a turbulent economy coupled...

    co driver info

Some of that would depend on the company and what they pay on FSC's. In this case, the lead driver should have the fuel covered ahead of the co-drivers pay. If not, the co-driver could potentially make more than the lead driver. My opinion would be to provide a percentage after cost. BTW....who...

    co driver info

If I only had to pay .25 per mile for the loaded miles, I could have retired much earlier. Based on that, I am paying way too much.

    Charging To Process Logs

The electronics are much better and easier. I quess the question becomes, why stay with the paper? They are charging because it involves more labor on their part to have them audited. On the electronic, the computer does it all.

    Carrier Rootop Air Cond. Broke

The good news is that it should be under warranty. I would check to see if it is actually getting any power. It may run on a breaker that has been tripped. If power goes to the unit and the thermo control is functioning correctly then I would go to a Carrier service center and have them check it...

    Panther holding back O/O's

If you are just talking vans, you would be better served to split up and run the other van as a solo, or sell it. That is somewhat sketchy advice as I don't know your financial situation. You are certainly on the right track in completing your class B license. May want to also consider a "A"...

    Panther holding back O/O's

To a carrier, it is about coverage and liability. Claims from transferring freight is pretty low. Most damage is done while in transit. They of course will use a team IF it is there to use. If not, then they go the other route. With regards to transfers at a dock, they aren't paying drivers on...
