That is a great post. It is amazing what one sees when they start to look outside the box just a little bit.

GM to shut down for half of the first quarter.

I think it is a two fold problem with regards to housing. You are correct in that they will have to restructure these existing loans. At the same time a lot will depend on the falling values on these properties. If they fail to stabilize, it will take a significant amount of cash to recover the...

GM to shut down for half of the first quarter.

I do agree with Phil in that there are quite a few things affecting the economy besides the auto business. I only chose to address that since that is the topic of this thread. I don't think anyone wants the auto industry to collapse but they are going to have to make some hard changes. The union...

    Drivers Web

Not really sure? One did a load from McAllen to Cincy and he got the message and unloaded a hour prior to another truck that came from Chicago to MS. He didn't get a message. Both unloaded today. Not sure what messages the first sent to dispatch? Won't know anything on the others until tomarrow.

    Drivers Web

One of our trucks got a QC message when he unloaded today stating it would be off most of the day for some kind of maintenance. Should be up by morning.

GM to shut down for half of the first quarter.

When they finally identify why it takes four people to unload a pallet at a plant and their foreign competitors use one, I think they may be closer to an answer. You don't need one person to sign in, followed by a safety guy to open a dock door, followed by a guy (towmotor operator) to check...

    tri-state question

Probably good advise for the original poster. He would have been better served to to converse with you verses the expert claim "he could school someone in expediting". He should have had this information PRIOR to any type of orientation.

How do I see Panthers' available loads?

Probably seen it on the broker board. Panther has more "Partners" than some because of their freight base. Without a doubt a few fall through the cracks. Same issue at the other carriers just not as many people have access so most wouldn't know whether it happened or not.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

    tri-state question

If it is a load that has any value, by the time you get the answers to all those questions, the load is long gone. Personally I wouldn't want to call anyone to "seek approval". Lastly, if one is forced to wait eight hours if they refuse a load, that is "forced dispatched". Nothing else to...

    a little advise please

Why do I get the sense you are really rushing this without much to go on?

    Brake Grinding Noise

If it is metal on metal, it can only be the pad hitting the rotor or a part of the caliper is touching the rotor somewhere. If they have been messed with, it is possible the wear indicator got a little bent and that is grinding the rotor. After that, I have no clue.

What Is Avg. Team Bring Home A Week For FedExcc?

Think I would go to the father in law as well. I would be leary of "averages" from last year and the year before that. Reading some of the current posts may indicate something a little different than those averages. In case you missed it.....read the post above mine. "Have plenty of cash...

How do I see Panthers' available loads?

Before this thread goes where it shouldn't I will explain what he likely making reference to. Panther does have a web based broker board. That is accessed by "partners" (drivers or companies with their own authority) or someone with approval to enter it. That is what the Colonel is referring...

Fuel Anti-gel Additives: Howes v. Power Service

PS is probably ok down to about 15 degrees. We experienced the same issue in extreme cold. Had it in a outside tool box and it froze. Pretty much stuck to the Howes and purchased by the case.

    I'm amazed!

Why? You probably know the answer already. It is because the carrier or the customer (maybe both) doesn't want to pay for any detention time. In those cases, they likely see the drivers time as expendable.

    I'm amazed!

That is all we do if there is some change in directions. We just enter that on the qc and that is it. May even include dock open/close times. If we are going to deliver, we want to know when they are going to be there. Not a appointment set by a third party or a customer that doesn't know the...

    hard times

When things start tightening up that is one of the advantages that finding your own freight has. Basically eliminates all those above listed problems. Can't see any reason why someone would sit eight days waiting on anything?

    I'm amazed!

I personally would want to talk to the customer directly. A third party in the middle just muddies the water. Even more so if it happens between shifts. You spend half of your time re-explaining yourself. If a driver isn't trusted or reliable enough to have a conversation with a customer, they...

The Trucker Who Cannot Not Truck

That is amazing. I believe everyone here at EO wishes him well with his new gig. Way to go Glen! I hope it works out the way he wants. Once trucking gets in the blood, its hard to get it out.
