    Miffed at .70 offer

Turtle's post is pretty accurate. I think it affects the van segment more than other parts just because there are a lot less loads to pick and bid from. I would in addition be mindful that many of your competitors van rates are normally .70 per mile. Not that it is right, but it is what it is...

    US Express Suprises Drivers

I would agree with Linder on this. Kind of like several whether CRST expedite or Schneider etc. Most have a much different customer base than the typical expedite company.

    Conway SC. Expeditor?

Could be one of several. BAX Global is there and if it was a van or straight truck, it probably was Vital Express or Beavex. Any others would likely be a courier service.

    Backhauls

Bottom line is they dropped the ball and should have updated their site. Common sense communication shouldn't be confused with doing a favor by providing the information in a fragmented fashion. Don't really use getloaded or I would have posted something. With regards to the holiday EM's, my...

I quess along that same thought as to whether anyone has seen one of these hit the three or four hundred thousand mark? And is actually still running trouble free?

    US Express Suprises Drivers

I would agree with many of the other observations. Freight rates, liability, combined with the HOS are pushing many companies out of providing solo opportunities. Just turns into the cost can't justify the means. May not be ethical, but many of these companies are loosing money and likely...

Wonder what happen to all that profit from the high prices and fuel heating issues they were doing? They should absolutely be entitled to some bailout money.

    The Puppy Project

When we were driving we had two Poms. Great to travel with. One has since died, but the other loves to ride. Nice and small and don't take up a ton of space. Smart and easy to train as well.

    About to take the plung

I won't beat around the bush. If you are contemplating a van gig, save your money and wait till spring. If you are really bent on jumping in, do something local for six months.

GM to shut down for half of the first quarter.

I believe I read in 2010 both China and India are going to sell a line of budget cars in the US. As for building them here, I am not so sure. I don't think they would have a interest in paying US wages. Pretty much why they make everything there and ship it over.
