    Reality Check # ?

Sorry, I don't see a world were $100 dollars a day is sufficient to operate a tractor or a straight truck.

    Reality Check # ?

After reading several threads, I am witnessing many only seeing this business through THEIR carrier"s eyes. The idea that a carrier can't compete unless they lower their rates to drivers may be true. If that carrier fails to provide adequate national coverage, then they must compete at the...

    Breaking News

Kind of like that "preferred customer theory". I would have to think the 1.05 per mile number would be the prevalent rate. If not, why change anything?

    Breaking News

I would say it is slower at Panther but I haven't heard of any drop in rates. Our loads are still being ran at the same rate. Will that continue? One never knows.

No grand conspiracy at all. If they are willing to show your billing as they should, then that is good. That is suppose to be how it is done. I go with the thoughts of "trust, but verify". As for everyone dropping their rates, I am not seeing that. Or at least, not yet.

    Breaking News

Probably better at the 1.20. Why? Because if they didn't intend on paying less, they wouldn't have made the offer in the first place. If it is a percentage, you are fine as long as you booked the load. If they booked it, then I would want the BOL for verification of charges. If they can't...

    Bankruptcy Thank You

I don't know if you are ligit or not? Doesn't matter. If they aren't providing you with any loads, what difference would it make as to whether they know it is you? As far as commitment, that is a two way street. If they are unproductive, move somewhere else. Especially if as you indicate...

    Bankruptcy Thank You

I do agree it is sad when someone is in that situation. But my thoughts are along with some of the others. Over stayed your visit, undercapitalized, HOS regulations, all make it a tougher gig. I am seeing a lot of casualties as many are still operating with a employee mentality. If the carrier...

    Breaking News

No rocket science here. If they pitch a plan that changes from their flate rate to percentage, they are going to be lowering the pay to the truck. If not, why bother? 65 percent of the line haul means nothing. It would be more of, 65 percent of what? Lot of good points in the other posts...

    New Orleans, What Happened to

Still a pretty good area from about N.O to Lake Charles, and north up to Baton Rouge/Port Allen. Even better if you have a hazmat as that is many of the loads from refineries.

General Info on Panther and using broker's

I think your first stop is to determine if they are putting vans on. I believe they stopped adding vans, but I would confirm with a call to recruiting. They can answer your other questions with regards to brokering as well.

    strange alarm sound

Sounds to me as well that it is the transmission computer/control module. Some freightliners have a seperate fuse block, but that is behind the drivers seat rather than under it but it doesn't have a buzzer in it. Not sure on Sterlings, but the 10 speed Eaton may eventually have a recall if not...

I would say a little behind last year but steady. But I am also only looking at less than two weeks.

    Trailer fee's ?? Bolt express

Why would one pay a 100 dollar a week fee for a company trailer if you are hauling THEIR freight? One could lease their own for much cheaper. Secondly, there are way too many companies that have no charge to pull their trailer. If you have your own, then they pay a higher percentage. I think...

    In case of a crash

It can be if it is contested and goes to court. Then you have the other processes if they refuse to pay. Many court cases go beyond the five year mark before compensation is actually awarded and paid. Just because one might win a case, doesn't necessessarily translate into immediate payment.

    In case of a crash

A good read for the new folks and why I advocate having at a bare minimum, $10,000 cash reserve per truck for someone starting out in a straight or tractor. Ideally more. Just on a engine replacement and downdown time, you could easily get much closer to 20k. Buy the time you get your truck...

Who wants Gov to Bail Them out? The PORN Industry

Hey, Look at the positive side. It is the only industry that might give something back. :D Far better than what the bailout to other industires have done so far.
