    I certainly understand your thinking but that is not how carriers really look at that relationship. They recruit drivers for ANY and ALL available trucks. Unless they are or feel they are loosing something, I doubt you will see any kind of change.

    You are correct. That is why I said the carrier has no incentive to get involved. The bad news is that this will get worse before it gets better. High unemployment, shrinking driver and equipment pool will all contribute to it.

    If it by chance could be the neutral safety switch, try starting it in neutral. That problem will also surface at the ignition test with a meter on it.

    That is the value of a attorney. If dealing with different carriers, you would need separate contracts for each as the language between carrier leases will be different. If you used a generic one, it will likely have numerous conflicts in it.
