Brokers aren't the problem at all. The problem are dumb O/os who are willing to haul cheap loads w/o contesting the rate.. Cheap carriers (and O/os) are the ones killing your bottom line. You only have yourself to blame.

I've watched these same truckers rant about low rates for a long time. Most don't know their cost per mile. It took $4 a gallon to wake them up. Then they blame everyone but themselves for their predicament. This is a Free Market. I guess you could say that I really don't have much sympathy...

If you're a leased Owner op, just remember, you signed a contract to take care of your carrier's customers. If you have a lower acceptance rate and/or strained relationship already, they may decide to take action against all of their trucks who just decided to take "vacation" on the same week...
