    Question For Newbies, Wannabes, WishIcouldBeButCantBe

There are lots of folks I have learned from and a lot I just enjoy discussing things with on here. Two people that I believe have helped make me a better business man on here are DaveKC and Xo6col.

    panther suck

What cracks me up is that everyone is so concerned with protecting the original poster's freedom of speech, and yet in typical "drive by" fashion, the original poster has not been back to defend his actions.

    Straight truck solo

A couple of the "smaller" companies that I've heard good things about for solos are C & M and Bolt Express.

Not only subliminal nudity, but virtual nudity. That's the kind where people are on here typing in their underwear, but thankfully, no one knows........

    Overall Length

Adding a liftgate does count on length if the footer plate extends beyond the end of the box. Worst case scenario, you can get a tuck-away liftgate that doesn't extend further than the box. However, you will need good balance to swing in from the side. Of course you would have a few extra...

Diva, I'm the guilty one. I have a naked Shih Tzu in my avatar. Here, we see him covered up only by Alfredo, the stuffed tiger.

Well, whoever they were, there was some broken grammar. If I remember right though, their spelling was really good.

    boards

It's always good to have a diversity of customers. Freight forwarders, such as Pilot and Seko are another great source. If you live near a decent sized airport, local cartage companies are another good source of loads. It's definitely about relationships. I have friends who get calls from...

    Flatbed Expediting?

The straight truck flatbed I saw the other day was an International, class 7, like a 4700 or 4900 WITH a 60in sleeper and a 24 foot flat. It was hauling some kind of big machine or transformer. Looked like expedite to me.

Brokers and bid boards are the problem.

Only problem I see is that you'd end up spending all of your time fending of anti-trust suits rather than expediting. BTW, there are co-ops already.

    Flatbed Expediting?

I know Panther has some flat bed trailers within their fleet. Every now and then I see a straight truck flatbed w/ a sleeper. I saw one the other day. I believe the carrier was Quick Delivery from SC.

    EOBR and HOS

So doc, humor me for a minute. Exactly how much do you really know about trucking? Most of the folks on here are not employees. They are contractor/business owners. Your salary idea sounds nice, in a Hillary/Obama driven world. But this is real life. No one on here earns a wage.

    Small cabover trucks

Ya got to think about more than diesel fuel price and engine price when you look at these things. Diesel engine will be much more durable in the long haul. Unless that gas engine has near the torque of the diesel, you're gonna blow that engine a lot faster than say a gas engine in a cargo van...

    Small cabover trucks

Personally, I would go with a diesel. Have you considered the cube van, either Ford or GMC? If you're looking for a good local truck, to me they're more comfortable. They also seem to be better if you are doing regional highway deliveries. If you like to run at the speed limit, expect no...

    Flat Rate Pay Plan

PJ, It wasn't a bad question. It's just one of myths that somehow get perpetrated over and over while a few guys who are laid over at a truckstop. There will always be O/Os around you who do nothing with their time but complain about why everything is set up against THEM! As far as big...
