    cargo van sleepers

Yes it's true. Even straight trucks or tractors that have only day cabs already log. To comply with being off duty for 10 hours, the driver must be somewhere other than the driver's seat. He can put a sleeping bag on the ground, or kick back the jump seat and sleep. You would log as 10 hours...

Runs that are on % of loads

Before you guys start getting upset about what the carrier keeps, just remember that they assume a level of risk that you never will.

Just read an article somewhere about Hino debuting a class 8 back in 2007. Wait, I think now that it was a press release on Hino's website. Just city tractors right now, I believe. Don't know if I've ever seen one.

    Cummings/DD/Hino/Mercedes

Well so far, no one has really mentioned anything about the Detroit engine. Like a DD 60 series. Any props? On a strictly class 8 level, how do the brands compare?

    Something is wrong here!

Here's the deal: Fuel keeps rising because the dollar is weak in international trading. The dollar is weak because the Fed keeps lowering the interest rate. The Fed keeps lowering the interest rate to try and stave off the mass of foreclosures that will occur because people borrowed too...

    Common or Contract Carrier

David, The only pitfall of common carrier in my mind is that you must file both your liability AND cargo insurance w/ the Fed. Not only that, but I believe you must have a set of published tariffs, whereas a contract carrier works based on contracts between himself and his brokers/shippers...
