    FDcc flat rate?

It is a ever changing business and without the numbers, it is a lot of guessing. The same operator that pulled thirty trucks at E-1 was shown the door at the Cat last week for the same demand of preferential treatment that fell on deaf ears. Just how it goes. Fed classes should be full for a...

    A Rude Awakening- A Rant-Pet Peeves

There are currently a surplus of vans. Pretty much why there isn't a lot of companies putting them. As for straights and tractors, there is a shortage. That should not be confused with a imbalance in freight lanes. A convention of trucks for example in Laredo usually means there is a...

    A Rude Awakening- A Rant-Pet Peeves

I think every carrier wants their best face being shown to the customer. Many carriers have raised rates to the customer, but with many, that doesn't translate to the operator making more. As you mentioned earlier, quantity is what many are focusing on. Quality is a byproduct if they can get it.

    A Rude Awakening- A Rant-Pet Peeves

Some of their freight can be really decent. And some isn't. Most of that depends on the relationship the carrier has with them. Here is their link. https://www.nlmi.com/homepage/home/tabid/190/Default.aspx

Just Wondering ....... Who do you work for?

Thanks....but this is how I view some parts of our industry. Thanks to the Internet, the secrecy that many carriers tried to operate under has pretty much disappeared. Without being carrier specific (they know who they are), many will spend their last dollar to take that dime from the...

Just Wondering ....... Who do you work for?

In the general sense, one should be working for themselves. No one is likely to throw you a lifeboat if your ship is sinking.

    Deadhead?

Yes. No need to complicate it.

Just Wondering ....... Who do you work for?

Regardless of numbers, the economy and the way expediting has evolved over the last couple of years, one might say the owner operator is becoming the customer of the carrier. "Sins of the past" are starting to creep into a lot of carriers. When you have larger carriers making millions and...

    lease purchase

Payments sound pretty high against that model year without knowing all the details. No idea whether insurance is in that number or not. I would also look carefully at the maintenance agreement and what it exactly covers. Lot of horror stories on some lease vehicles. They also may charge .10...

How do you fleet owners do it??

It is hard sometimes to really give "cookie-cutter" answers because there are alot of variables. Sometimes a phone call minimizes some of that. Keeping in mind that you are essentially standing in front of the expedite roulette wheel, never bet more than you can afford to lose...

    New here from panther!

It depends on your contract. On the FSC ones, the rate I believe is .41 from point of dispatch. It would be ones rate if you are on a flat rate pay.

    JD Power results

They will keep making them cheaper in order to save money and lighten the vehicle to achieve yet another round of new emissions standards. And your right, service on the new ones is horrendous as well. Many shops have one guy to work on emissions so you wait days just for service, or tow it to...

    JD Power results

Actually a disappointing article. We are paying more for equipment with these kinds of results. 72 out of hundred trucks with engine problems followed by 66 out of hundred with problems for the most current number. Gee, they are getting better. Pathetic. We can all thank the EPA...

Panther sign on bonus for vans

Takes a lot to replace Turtle. I have only so many straights to grab the multiple van loads. :D He will still be hauling for the Cat, just with a different wrapper and hopefully higher pay.

    Team not asking for much

Not right now. All the "super" trucks are filled.:D Greg, I think there was one of these a while back. Just as funny.

    Team not asking for much

Might be a joke, but then you would be surprised at some of the requests you get. It usually goes like a laundry lists of wants and what they won't do, followed by, "we have never driven before". In this case, it may be a case of a owner running out of money to fix the truck since he spent it...

    Cummins regen issue

I haven't seen anything beneficial from them yet except higher purchase and operating costs. Not impressed. Hopefully over time they will become reliable. They start out ok and then the problems start to surface.
