Big Truck I work on Hino trucks. I'll answer any questions I know the answers to.

I figured the fuel pump may have been the culprit, but that's not the kind of answer I can tell a fella over the internet. It'd be kind of embarrassing to tell you to spend $2k and be wrong. This kind of problem is most quickly (and accurately) solved using Hino's diagnostic software. Those...

    Buying a used truck

There was something like 100lbs of compression on three cylinders, the other three had 0. Dropped one exhaust valve. A few exhaust valve seats fell out. A few valves had what looked like gas leakage past the valve and seat so severe that 1/4" of the seat and valve had simply vaporized. A few...

    Buying a used truck

Why? I do not like C7s, not one bit. No replaceable liners, a finicky valvetrain, injectors that can be wiped out by poor fuel, dirty oil, each other, or a bad HEUI pump. And they're not remarkably powerful. These pics are out of the last one i worked on. The true cause of this catastrophe...

Sorry It couldn't easily be fixed. Since I've been working on Hinos, I've never condemned a Hino ecu until today. It was getting both exhaust brake switch and dpf regen button input, but would respond to neither.

Big Truck I work on Hino trucks. I'll answer any questions I know the answers to.

Yes, the ecm is right under the fuse panel. Those voltages are very odd. The fuel pump should be making maximum pressure right now, but it's still not starting. Something tells me you've got a problem with the ecm. Either it's not grounded properly, it's getting insufficient voltage, it's...

I looked up the two U codes you had. They are CAN communication failures to the EGR valve and the VNT controller. Pop the fuse cover off. Look at the ecm. Concentrate on the leftmost connector. Starting at the lower right corner, count right to left until you get to pins 21 and 22. Third...

Put the new scv in, and leave it unplugged. Crank the engine (it may take several tens of seconds of cranking). Does it start? Do not attempt to drive it if it does start. This is just for testing purposes.

Th scv is pulse width modulated. To get an accurate look at its activity, you'd need to backprobe the connector and look at the signal with an oscilloscope with the engine running. Drain the excess oil from the engine. Take the black air hose off of the intercooler. Look at the throttle plate...

Scv means suction control valve, aka fuel pressure regulator. Left rear of engine, on the injection pump, it's a shiny little cylinder about an inch in diameter and about 2.5 inches long. It has an electrical connector on the front of it. This is the connector that might have the rusty powder...

Big Truck I work on Hino trucks. I'll answer any questions I know the answers to.

P2002 DPF malfunction P0087 low rail pressure P0628 scv malfunction Scv valve is messing up. It's probably causing the P0087 code. May be the valve, may be a bad connector. Any evidence of a rusty powder at all in the scv connector, replace the connector body and both wire terminals. If the...
