    15 days is to long.

Okay here is the story. With my orientation fees and one of my trucks not being in opperation I owed Panther $136 dollars between three orientation packages. Physical,Drug screen and processing fee. Also insurance on a guy that ended up stealing my GPS after class. My expenses should be $598...

    15 days is to long.

Yes I do have the 56% advance set up, however that goes to paying the driver and some of the fuel. The problem I have and I have adressed it and I am waiting on a response. The accounting dept. did not pay me my money that was due today. It was on a 15 day term from March 25th. I have $5600...

    60/40?/fair?

First of all my trucks have been held more then two hours before and Panther refused to pay detention time to the truck. It was one of the oldest customers and they did not want to make them angry. Second they rarely ever pay empty moves. Getting drivers out of the Boston area is most likely...

Trucking Industry Example. Rose Trucking contracts to deliver material for Forest Inc. at $140 per ton. Rose Trucking is not paid for any articles that are not delivered. At times, Jan Rose, who operates as Rose Trucking, may also lease another truck and engage a driver to complete the...

    15 days is to long.

Bad enough that I had to replace a driver, but that driver left me with a paper work mess. Panther won't even back date the pro's for me. The accounting department is a mess and they are slow updating the system. They put a 15 day terms on Pro's that were done the first week of March. I had to...

    60/40?/fair?

Just from experience I get good drivers that refuse to go to work for owners that make them pay for the fuel. They also love the fact that they are not going to be upside down owing taxes at the end of the year.

Greg check you local laws.. Look it up on the internet. What qualifies as employee verses independent contractor. Each state has different laws it's a fine line. Even though contractors at FedEx Ground/Home Delievery brought their own equiptment to the job FedEx had to much control over owners...

    60/40?/fair?

My advice to drivers that are unhappy is to buy your own truck and then you will have a better understanding. I drove as a solo opperator for years in the FedEx Ground system. Year after year I would net before taxes around 35K and I worked from 6am to 7pm daily. I loaded my own truck at .3...

    Craziest Load Offer Yet!

Panther pays a flat rate of $99 dollars plus FSC. for loads under a 100 miles.

    Expedite Freight Volume

Chicago area is great for getting loads. One of my drivers has been in that area all week and he's never empty for more then a few hours. On the other hand I have one driver that has been stuck in New England. Every time I get him to dead towards PA they find freight that takes him back to the...

Ground is improving, but they still are cheap. They are investing a lot more into the contractors now. I get $4500 dollar bonus every three months for owning four trucks. I just got my bonus yesterday. :)

NightCreature I have been dealing with FedEx Ground for the last five years. I still own four P/D routes in the Home Delivery and they can be cold hearted bastards.

His cell phone is always on. It just happened that Panther had a shipper that has a load going 90 miles west in PA and they booked the same driver to go back to the pick up and drive it up to Springfield MA. He won't be up to Massachussetts until 4pm today. He will be lucky to have two hours...

I called Panther and complained and they gave $150 dollars to the driver to move to OH. He's gotten three loads in the past 24 hours. We wasted two point five days this week because he should have moved earlier. We are new at the business and it's a learning process. Next time he is going to...

They asked him to move to Canada after the drop in NY but he was unsure that the mounties would arrest him because he failed to pay a speeding ticket fifteen years ago. I just found that out now.

Yep he's still in upstate NY and is still number two on the list. Number one is not the first one out either. Two drivers got frustrated and moved up to Rochester that gets one load a day. Panther said the area averaged five loads a day and now they knocked it down to three on the owner website.

Good for you Morningstar. How many miles is that run? My driver has been stuck in upstate NY for over 24 hours. He started at number five on the board and he's down to number two now.

Very good points Dave about the quality of the loads. I prefer the longer loads because it keeps my drivers happy. Some of the best loads are the 30 mile loads from pick up to drop. Thats a $99 dollar flat rate at Panther.

It seems like it's very common to get loads under two hundred miles as a solo. If you own the truck and run as a solo I don't see these type of loads as a problem.
