    Up Front Costs

Childsafe you might have misunderstood my post. It is not a gripe, but a casual observation. As I own my own trucks, I can see the situation as to where an owner doesn't forward the drivers pay for three weeks. I personally am not in that situation. It would be an owner that doesn't have the...

    Fuel Systems

I as well am not sure exactly to what fuel saving item you are refering to. It sounds like you might be talking about a turbo3000. While I don't have one on my truck, they lay great claims as to their performance. I have not spoken to anyone with this device but they were at the Louisville truck...

    Up Front Costs

The owner should give a percentage of every load to cover fuel, food ect. A new driver would need that in the beginning. The three week deal sounds like a owner is waiting for his/her settlement check before they pay their driver. It would appear that it is a very cash strapped owner. I have...

Canada To work in US soil for Canadan drivers....

I agree with Lawrence. I don't think we have a immigration policy either. Alot of those problems are related to the earlier NAFTA agreements and the GAT accord. I am not sure either one is good for the U.S. Have to be careful as well.....could get to politcal!

    Sleepers?

I don't see why not. Shouldn't be that much fabrication involved. Most of the care should be when you cut the back of your cab to accomadate the sleeper. Too much cutting or in the wrong places will compromise the cabs strength.;)

someone with expiditing experience please help

Need to provide more information. What percentage are you being paid? Two year option on truck? Depends on whether your two years qualifies you for anything against the cost. What is the truck worth after two years and how old of unit is it. I would think you would have to arrive at a price...

What can I expect to run...

remember that most companies use a average of 45mph to 50mph to caculate a run. The only exception would be if they are paying HHG miles. The mph would average higher because they are screwing you on the actual miles. Example; you run a 500 mile trip but actually run 550 to complete it. That...

What can I expect to run...

we had a poor experience with them a couple of years ago running as a team. There were alot of problems with the single drivers there as well. In their defense, I understand they have made great strides in trying to turn themselves around through management and pay plans. If you have some...

    Throw out Bearing

alot of times that chatter will come from that plastic plate under your dash. In the middle of your steering column going up the fire wall is a large long spring. They are probably running a bungy cord up to that assembly along side the spring to add a little tension. That will eliminate that...

    the perfect owner.......

The newest driver I have has been with me for over 5 years. Just like the above says, give them good equipment, pay correctly and on time, and don't screw them over. I have followed this plan for over ten years and have only a few quit over that time. And they are in the trucking field, but not...

Are all companies the same about at their yard?

RE: Are all companies the same about at their yard we drive for Panther and they have a lounge, laundry and shower. They also have vending machines. Sounds like Tri-State has something to hide or they have screwed enough drivers to want to keep them from entering their premises. If they tell...

    Dead Head Miles and Repossessions

Both the wife and I run team for panther. Until you really know where the freight lanes and specific customers are at, I would highly recommend taking advantage of their repositioning. In addition, it will pay your deadhead to that location. As a single driver, OH,MI,IN,IL,KY,TN you can't go...

    Sleepers

We have had Bentz and ICT. Both are probably the best on the market for the price. ARI has nice larger units as well. Both had some nice units at the Louisville Truck Show. We currently run a ICT and we love it. Truck has over 300,000 on it and so far the ICT has been 100% trouble free.

    FRP boxes??

seems like it would take considerable effort to add extra cross members ect on the bottom. In addition, it would seem like you would have to add addition support beams on the inside in order to support a e-track assembly. By the time all of that is done it would seem cheaper to by a new box. New...

    FRP boxes??

They are probably not e-tracked nor would they support the weight of a tow motor. I would not recommend one for expediting. If I am not mistaken, the underneath frame rails are too far apart. Makes them lighter but not more durable. If you want smooth outside walls I think supreme makes them for...

Owners..Time to put up! Re; Fuel Surcharge

I am sorry that someone thinks I have an axe to grind against them. I have never driven nor do I care to, drive for landstar. Providing factual information does not constitute an axe to grind. Read my earlier post as it indicates that one investigated doesn't mean they are guilty. However, the...

Now I have an update. Go to www.ooida.com They have a class action lawsuit against Landstar. Go to their site and on right hand side click court cases, and click on Landstar. At that point you can read the list of complaints and court proceeding.
