    60/40 split?

A "weekly average" is pretty tough to come up with, as the weeks can vary wildly in loads offered, accepted, time OOS (personal, maintenance &/or repairs), DH involved, etc. A team (or solo) who would quit the owners because they "weren't making enough money" simply doesn't understand the...

    hello

Bambam: you cannot be seriously thinking of bringing a baby on the road with you? In a job in which food, sleep, and every other need and desire must wait upon the demands of the freight, it would be irresponsible beyond belief to even consider, IMO. Expediting doesn't make allowances...

    hello

Bambam, she is very pretty - and trust me, if you did go back on the road, you'd miss her enough to DH 3000 miles in a heartbeat! My 'baby' just turned 18, and I miss her every day, on the road - so don't take it the wrong way, when I say that I hope you don't go back on the road. Babies...

    newbies....learn from this

The other salient point here is to know your limits (GVW minus actual weight, including driver(s) and all gear), and don't exceed it, no? PS I'm trying to picture a van loaded with over 5000lbs, and what I'm seeing is 4 exploded tires!:eek::eek::eek:

    Why can't they wash lots

The trucking industry (& image) is evolving - slowly, but it's happening already: ie, fresh fruit at the checkout counter.....The thing is, those folks who act like a little exercise will kill them, are gonna find that the opposite is true, eh?

    Happy surprises

Good thing Mom was home, I'd say! Did you seriously drive nearly 1000 miles with a broken arm?!

    Landing Gear Placement

What about just dumping the air bags as you back to the dock, then reinflating after getting loaded?

    Knock, Knock, Knock...

Or in the middle of them....:p BTW: I always thought the middle of the night is around 0700:cool:

    Knock, Knock, Knock...

What kind of sly remark is that? If you have a private dispute with Wingnut, it should stay private. Innuendo is the lowest form of cowardice, IMO. Or did I mistake your meaning?

    Happy surprises

I took a shortish load, [less than 300 miles] once, and was within 20 miles of delivery when dispatch called: "There's been a mixup - the consignee doesn't need the freight. Would you return it to the shipper?" Of course I would.....when I got done laughing. :D

    Panther is cleaning House???

OK, Leo, I'll accept your numbers (note to newbies: NEVER argue with Leo's numbers, lol) but the point is valid: the carrier doesn't lose money on vans that are sitting still - only the o/o or driver does. What's keeping van rates down is the oversupply, because it is too easy to buy a van, and...

    Bring your best pic

2 questions: Moose, it's a lovely photo - but what am I missing? And why, on only this thread, do the words run off the right margin, & disappear?

Hit ABC Show Seeks Dynamic Moms Who Drive Trucks For Primetime!

Danielle: neither I nor any of the dozen or so women drivers whom I know, are eligible for your show, nor am I familiar with it, (don't watch tv) but I do have a comment: drivers tend to be VERY particular about their trucks - if the swap involves driving someone else's, I can't see it...

Jeanie, I'm glad you're here, too - we need all the smart folks we can get! (Not to mention experienced, and goodhearted) PS Saw a bobtail the other day, would have snapped a pic, but my cellphone/camera was dead - on the back, it said "Gotta go , gotta goooooo!"

    Panther is cleaning House???

I'm really confused now - you say the carrier doesn't care if they have a lot of vans sitting, but they care about being efficient, and having a lot of vans sitting isn't efficient - did I get that right? The bottom line is that the carrier makes money whether you do or not - if they didn't...

    Driving and diabetes

So when people say what YOU don't want to hear, they're 'stalking' you, huh? Well, I sure hope you have lots of free time to counsel all those who will no doubt be jumping at the chance to 'dialogue' with you......I'm done trying, myself.

    Driving and diabetes

I'm "attacking the messenger" because it's not your place to castigate adults here - particularly when you haven't the least idea of their circumstances, the 'how' and 'why' of their difficulties, nor what they're already doing to resolve them. (That's what they have doctors for). Even if it...

    Driving and diabetes

Aristotle: even if your view were factually correct, (which it isn't), I believe you made your point in another post on healthy eating. The folks who are dealing with diabetes, and/or weight problems have enough to handle without being beat up in public by a stranger. Appreciate your concern for...
