    can this work for me?

Look into a 2002 or 2003 truck. You're looking at half the cost with a couple years warrantee still left. If you're going with a straight truck, you're better off getting a class 8, as you'll have a long-life engine and much more flexibility with loads... much more comfortable too.

    Changes at FECC

Bout damn time!!! When I was with Roberts, we had to dh back from California from a load we took to Portland for .85/mi (I was rather new then). I tried talking to them about picking up LTL, but they wouldn't do it. They owe it to the drivers to be able to let themselves get out of an area if...

axle positions and too much thinking time

Ateam... if that's all Edison did, we wouldn't have electric light... just the little cartoon lightbulb idea above his head. If you have the idea, the money for the idea, and it proves to be a promising idea, by all means do it! Sitting around talking about this or that, but no plans on doing...

    All-Types Expediting

Do a check with OOIDA and the attorney general to see if any other suits have come up on All-Types of this type. If there's a precedent here, it'll make it that much easier for you. But, because they put that endorsement note on the back of the check, many would just cash it to cut their losses...

    Truck purchase horror story

If he were honest, I wouldn't think he'd turn down the my offer to pay the lien myself. Or... he would've forwarded my checks that were to be endorsed by him AND his lienholder. The thing that really made it concrete to me what he was doing, was when he called and asked when I was sending...

    Seat Pads?

I've seen them for sale at the Petro just east of KC. They wanted $150 for the pro. I may get one, rather than buy a whole seat. It seems worth it to pay $150 for a shot at avoiding a $1000 seat every 500k miles.

    Building the ultimate expediter

Definitely KW and Volvo have the highest resale, and it has to do with dependability. I miss driving a t-300 with the non-adjustable passenger seat and the cramped cab. But the drive was so much beyond a freightshaker. Now, if they could fit a 30' box on a t-600, I'd be there ;)

    help on a lease purchase

Who are you getting the truck from? If it's the same guy I bought from, I'll tell you. Hint... his first name is the same as his last. Yes... definitely have a lawyer look over it. And if he's still paying the truck off, demand a monthly statement from the title holder that he's making YOUR...

    Truck purchase horror story

The argosy is the best truck I've ever driven. It has more than adequate space for storage for two drivers. And although the bunk area itself is small, it feels like a studio with it being wide open to the cab. It's a 2000 with an M-11 370 horse. Gets 10-11 mpg since I've been in the truck. I...

    Truck purchase horror story

I am now driving an argosy with a 30' box, and in a situation I can only tell you is lucrative, to say the least. We'll see as time goes on how I do and how this company and I fit. I'll let you know how it goes. :)

    Truck purchase horror story

Update to the saga: Dipstick (the owner of the truck) had his lawyer send a letter to Panther telling them not to pay my settlement, or else he'd sue them. After a day, they told us their corporate lawyers advised them to pay us what they owe, and hold the escrow for 45 days before sending...

are there any decent owners out there?

You are so right about alot of people in general. Not all are greedy, with no sense of decency or compation. In purchasing a vehicle, I paid over $20,000 into it, including repairs. I ended up with nothing at the end. Now, we're fighting to get our last settlement and escrow, cause the guy put...

Looking for a nice truck, and a good company

You should worry about who's going to run you enough beyond the near future. July will come and go before you know it. Some companies will do well over the summer, but tank in the winter... others are pretty stable all year around. If you're running single, you'd be better off asking which...

    Truckstop gouging

I heard about that stuff... it also repels lot lizards and neutralizes truck stop piss smell. They sold me... but I'm gonna hold out till they get cheese and chili for their hot dogs. :P

A little venting and a real need

I got a transmission change in Feb, and it started chattering almost immediately. I told them about it, they adjusted it, but it came back. Could it be they damaged the clutch putting it in? Cause I really didn't have a chance to screw it up over a day or so.

    Summer Auto Plant Shut down

I was told at orientation that the big 3 stagger their vacation times over a month. I think I would rather have two bad weeks, and prepare for them by taking a vacation, than have 4 weeks of so-so freight. Fortunately for me, and others who don't mess with automotive, July will be as busy as it...
