    Canada What is a Canadian?

What would you rather we call ourselves? United States of Canada? LOL I know most ppl in Canada would rather we be called Clintonia. I prefer FREE REPUBLIC OF AMERICA, but our government would never allow that... besides, nothing is free. That brings up a good question... What do people in the...

    Front Brakes

I had the same prob in the 106, but as I applied the brakes harder, they would lock and pull me to the right. There's a post on here about that problem from about 6 months ago. It appears to be a common thing for the fl series.

Have cdl permit need road test HOW??

If you need a testing company, your local DMV should have a list. It cost us $100 to get the certificate for my nephew's license. I used my own truck, but I'm sure if you rent one (hint: a U-haul or Ryder doesn't require a cdl to drive), you should be able to use it for a test. I don't know if...

    Truck Build Disasters

That reminds me... I'm buying an older class 8 straight truck. The guy says it has springs under the box (or something to that effect). This is to allow the frame to twist, but not the box's floor. Has anyone heard of this?

    Getting Started

It's not against the law for a van to drive that much, just irresponsible. No reason to drive more than 14 hours or so in a van. I've heard several examples of tractors going non-stop cross-country, and it's crazy! I don't see much point in being the richest man in the graveyard.

    Got me again

I noticed that at a Pilot in Monroe. .05 more for credit! I got enough to get us to the Hook in Youngstown. TJ... what you said about waiting til you get to Ohio. They don't put all of their fuel taxes on at the pump... so you're paying a high price, plus getting spanked when you get your...

Broom... I don't see anything greedy about it. The business will be there for us, and you want some of it. Nothing wrong with that. :D

    Vacation in Chattanooga

A D-unit with Panther has no probs getting out of GA, especially Atlanta. SC isn't bad either. Prof, you asked what you did wrong... Chattanooga! It's not the best place to sit for D-units, and my guess is for vans also. Knoxville, Nashville, or Atlanta would produce more fruit. If you're...

    Paying your Co-driver

Absolutely... miles are just the biggest part of it, tho. If someone drove single for me, they'd get half of everything that mileage didn't cover; except for fingerprinting loads, which they'd get 100%.

Looking to get in the business.

Just for your concideration: Con-way pays $1.07 (I hope I'm right on this), and several others are in the $1.15-$1.30 area.

    No good deed goes unpunished

very simple... truck is business. You want help moving? Fine. Rent a truck and tell me when you're loading it. I've helped a couple of times, but when someone EXPECTS my truck to be used for favors, that usually means money out of my pocket... so they can just ask to borrow money :)

    Paying your Co-driver

Co-driver pay is usually 20% of the gross to the truck. This is before any expenses. I believe you'd be stepping into dangerous territory if you used what you actually cleared. With using a percentage of the gross, your co-driver would always know up front how much he's making from a load.

    Michigan to Enforce (see headlines)

I see this is going to become a political pissing match. I, for one, would vote for Nugent if it gets Granholm out of there. Engler left her one big mess, but she's doing nothing but making it a bigger mess. I worked for MDOT for the summer a couple years ago. When she got in, most of what was...

    Landstar Express America

Sure, calling agents is a pain in the butt. And looking for your own loads takes alot of time away that you could be digging in the buffet. I for one believe that getting spoon-fed loads over big brother qualcomm is the reason rates throughout the industry don't go up. Sure, it makes things...

New Guy with Class 8 Straight truck Please HELP!!!

RE: New Guy with Class 8 Straight truck Please HEL If you're going with a company that has no start-up costs and gives a percentage on p/u or delivery, I would have a couple of thousand in pocket. $25,000 isn't alot of money to build a truck with... especially a class 8. Maybe you should look...

New Guy with Class 8 Straight truck Please HELP!!!

RE: New Guy with Class 8 Straight truck Please HEL You may be better off financing, at least partially. Experience shows that there will be costs above and beyond what you're expecting, so having a little cash reserve helps alot. Also, depending which company you go with, you'll need a few...

New Guy with Class 8 Straight truck Please HELP!!!

RE: New Guy with Class 8 Straight truck Please HEL How much would a tag axle be compared to tandem? Did they price that? You may want to reconcider the lift gate, unless you plan on going into specialized freight such as white glove. Experience with someone who had one was that customers see...
