    Pay to Play Post Removed

Maybe the crackerjack programmers at EO could just create a red circle with a slash through it to slap over the fake usernames in future, leaving everything else alone....

    First Straigh Truck?

There are just two items that I feel qualified to advise: first, get (or add) an APU (auxiliary power unit), because idling is throwing money away. Second, an automatic is preferable from the point of view that the human body wasn't designed to perform the repetitive motions required by...

    Gotta love Virginia

If you can't park a cargo van in just one space, you deserve a ticket, lol. :p Really, Jack: 2 spaces?

    Gotta love Virginia

That article ought to be in the mainstream media, not just a magazine for drivers - we already know what the problems are. Lack of parking is the main reason I will not go back to driving t/t. I remember especially one night, pulling into a rest area exhausted, finding nowhere to even stop long...

    An expediters prayer

The truck is clean Laundry's done too Sammitches are packed What else can I do? Turned in the Trippak (It's FREEZING out there!) Pulled out the curling iron And fixed up my hair Too early for a nap How slow the hours go While just wasting time I'm so glad there's EO! I learn new things And...

    No forced dispatch...

A small outfit called Polly Express. But I remember you're a solo, and Polly, like everyone else practically, is only adding teams now. Those of us who've been with her for awhile are ok to solo, so I'm staying put - no complaints. I don't adapt well to the corporate culture, is my problem, lol.

    No forced dispatch...

Does the Reverend have a chip on his shoulder, or what?! There are carriers who engage in none of those behaviors, including the one for whom I drive. They do their best for me, and I for them, and we are both satisfied. You don't have to settle for less.

    Partner?

It's illegal (I think) to have more than one showing - but you can cover a carrier's with a magnetic sign temporarily, while running on your own.

    Truck delima..

It means HOS apply. I thought that Al and NY required logging, but I'd not heard of Va. I never logged in the van, except when hauling Hazmat, though.

    Make sure it's paid for

Surely the dealer's agreement to pay off the trade in is in the contract, so how could anyone possibly hold the innocent buyer responsible? Every time I read demands for 'less government' I can't help but think of all the ways citizens can be robbed by the unethical - particularly those in the...

    Truck delima..

Cargo van drivers must log when hauling hazmat. And doesn't Alabama require them to log as well?

    No forced dispatch...

All the recognized name carriers have official policies on load acceptance, including penalties (if any) for turning down loads. And some have dispatchers who seem to have their own policies - though you'd have a devil of a time proving it, I bet. The "open door" brag always puzzled me, because...

    hazardous advice please

cheri, if the driver wants to out the carrier he can. he needs to air out the van. That the driver took the load says he's more concerned with his income than with what's right - if he's willing to risk it, that's his own affair. And the shipper doesn't matter, because we could make our own...

Who Moved My Cheese ? - Book recommendation

How about joining the social group 'Bookworms' here on EO? That's where we trade book reviews, and offer suggestions on what to read. PS "If you give a mouse a cookie" has been a favorite of mine for many years, lol. :D

    hazardous advice please

I don't give a fig for the driver, but would sure like to know which carrier would knowingly permit a driver to haul hazmat under those circumstances - they need to be avoided, for whatever time they remain in business.

    Truck Dealers

It never ceases to amaze me, how much most dealerships will spend on advertising that only alienates potential customers ("Call for price!" Yeah, sure - hold your breath till I do, ok?) and how little they're willing to spend on good word of mouth advertising, instead.

    Stupid folks need not apply....

Arcelor-Mittal Steel, feeling the need for a shakeup, hired a new take-charge CEO. The new man, touring a plant, felt the need to show a 'no tolerance plan' for slackers, so when he spotted a guy leaning against the wall, he went into action. Asking the guy how much he was paid, getting the...

PS If you're driving in Missouri, the truckstops in Hayti have reopened now, after the ice storm. (They were closed this morning).

    SlushBusters Work!

TeamCaffee's word was all I needed, knowing them both to be exceptionally persnickety about what goes on their truck - and I believe ATeam is just the same. I'm having a real hard time seeing how a thin plastic strip could possibly have "an adverse operational effect" on the wiper motor (as...
