    waiting for a load

Pack... I see your point. But I also see the reasoning behind occasionally taking freight that has little or no profit. Simple... if you're stuck in California with nothing for a week, it makes sense to get back to the freight zone. You can either dh, or take an ltl (or expedite van freight)...

    Looking For Volunteers

Yep... playing fair is what the contract is for. Kinda reminds those who would play dirty to have a conscience. If not, then a court will remind them.

    Fuel Centers And Laptops

The driver's lounge in most truckstops have outlets, if you can handle the noise of the tv. As mentioned, Js usually have a quiet area with tables or benches where the drivers can use a phone or plug in their computer. Being a smoker, I avoid bringing my puter into a truckstop that is no...

    waiting for a load

Scott is giving straight scoop. My biggest logic for the business is: There comes a point in time that sitting ends up costing more than the fuel to dh back to the zone. Everyone of us has to figure out that point. Depending where you're at, it may be a day, it may be three days. If you're on...

    Fuel Centers And Laptops

Leo... if you're getting a slower connection than me, I advise you use carrier pidgeon LOL I'd have no problem going without the wireless, altogether. Except, I need it to run the truck. And, from what I've heard, Sprint has the best nationwide connection... something else I need to have. I do...

    Looking For Volunteers

I can answer that with two words... SOLID CONTRACT. By making sure those occurances, along with others that may come to thought, are spelled out in the contract, you have all necessary means to contest a problem. Also, I would recommend a clause that has an arbitrator look at any unresolved...

    Fuel Centers And Laptops

I have the J wifi, and sprint wireless. I always try to use J so I wouldn't use up my limit with Sprint. But since I signed onto their new package (unlimited for 59.99/mo), I guess I could cancel J. But their connection is always so GOOD!!!

Pilot screws the little guy again

Gambler... how've you been? Your presence has been missed! Usually, I'll go to a Pilot before I go to TA (except in Monroe, MI). Usually, the TA is a couple cents higher, and they don't post it on the street. I like the TA's restaurant. But I like Pilot's prices on smokes, candy bars, and hot...

    Conway

This is an interesting thread. The way I see it, Conway is averaging out all the fsc charges so as to make them more consistant. This way, your Maytag runs will make as much as a Joe Shmoe run. If this is correct, there's no reason to gripe, as it all evens out (or hypothetically does so). I...

    Conway

Whether driver or o/o, I would hope that the one paying the fuel would look at a low fsc and say "No thanks!" If you take the good with the bad, that provides the companies with reasons to keep rates and/or fsc low. If no one wants to take a .08 fsc, that'll tell the customer that they should...

Looking for O/O to drive for

EO has free classifieds that has a good record of getting results. I doubt you'll have a problem finding a gig there.

    Apology to Ateam

I have to apologize because of what I said in the thread "Somehow it's all coming back to me". I did not have any facts to back this up. I went on both what was said previously, and what I THOUGHT I was told by someone, who in fact corrected me today. I have no basis to have said what I did, and...

Homeland Security asks Truckers to help find man.

RE: Homeland Security asks Truckers to help find m I agree. I think we all try to find humor in what frustrates us. And yes, a guy taking pictures is something to think seriously about. But when the government asks you to do its job (remember... THEY turned it into a THEM taking care of US...

we cannot even help each other no more

Trucking isn't a brotherhood like it once was. The days of "Convoy" are long dead. Truckers are more prone to use the cb to test their genital size as to help someone in need. That's more or less the way America has gone in general. "If I can help, let me send a check. Otherwise, don't waste my...

RE: Homeland Security asks Truckers to help find m LMAO! I like those answers! If I could give you points, Sharp, you'd have em! :7 If I could give you more, Scott, you'd have em too! :7 Read and learn, Unka Sham. The only limits you don't put on our job is how much you take out of our...

    Best and Worst runs

I would call that a best run! I never saved anyone's job. And my best run, moneywise, ended up starting off a week where I made nada. So that goes to show that if the money is staring you in the face one week, it could be hiding the next. I'll hafta think of what my best run was. :P

    WANTING TO EXPEDITE

If you're making $17/hr @45 hrs/week, my advice is to stay where you're at. Yes, you'll make more than what you do on SOME weeks. But when you factor in food on the road, necessities, etc., you're better off being home every night and eating a home cooked meal.

    Insurance

I agree with Randy about Transport Insurance. I tried getting coverage with them... easy and cheap. It was after I sent my deposit thru that they realized they don't insure any vehicle over 15 years old :P Regardless... they are the cheapest by far that I've called. I'll be getting it thru...
