    showers for gas burners

Greg: both water & ice are free, if you bring your own container. Not a cooler of ice, but I regularly refill my gallon jugs with water, and get a large cup of ice all the time. :)

    Landstar Express straight trucks

South Texas is a fairly regular destination for expediters, and getting out is not generally a problem in a straight truck, either.

    Roll Call

Congrats to you & Mrs Jefferson! Was hoping to meet you, but your reason is the best one I've heard yet for skipping the Expo. :)

    Would you trust this shop?

It could also be a case of drivers anticipating the need for the parts to be fetched from elsewhere, [as so often happens], with the attendant [excessive] charges. At least they were willing to offer something to satisfy your complaint, which is more than some would do.

    Expo and first Annual...

Borrowing an adjective from Turtle: KEWL! I'll go anywhere in my jammies, and went to a pajama brunch yesterday, at 57 West [Lakewood, Oh] for my mother's 75th birthday. :D I'll have to find some walking slippers now...

    Would you trust this shop?

If you choose to patronize a business that has overcharged you, because your 'policy' is to give everyone '3 strikes', then you have no grounds for complaint when you were overcharged two more times - you knew what you could expect. To answer the question: yep, I'd trust them - to pad the bill...

    Greetings from Scott

. Only one cake Cheri? One is enough - if it's big enough. :D[Don't even go there, guys - you know who you are!]

    Montgomery, AL, FYI

I'm on my 3rd Bluetooth, and finally got one I love: a Blue Ant. The BlueParrot is a headset, which I can't tolerate for more than a few minutes, but the Blue Ant is an earbud type - so comfortable, I often forget it's there. It talks to me, [great when using the phone as an alarm!], and does an...

    Greetings from Scott

Welcome, Scott. Sounds like you have your ducks in a row, and will fit right in. And I totally agree: after driving t/t, a straight truck is a piece of cake, lol. Speaking of cake [I'm planning to bring one to the Expo], if you can attend, it's the perfect time to meet carriers, owner/ops...

    Small-town Parking Options?

Even the smallest small towns usually have a grocery store. :)

    Prestige

It's a pretty small carrier, unless they've expanded greatly. I would think your best bet is to ask for contact info for several current drivers from the recruiter, as you probably won't find many otherwise. FWIW, I met one of the owners years ago, & ran one load for them [brokered through...

    Senate Bill Targets Broker Fraud

If the FMCSA enforced the current laws against fraud, the fines against the scam artists would pay for enforcement, without charging the honest folks. Just another money grab by the government that's incompetent to budget and/or incapable of fiscal sanity. There will NEVER be enough money coming...

    Driver Responsibilities

The most helpful advice I can think of is to question hearsay, and verify it from an official source before believing it. The FMCSA guide, contract with the carrier, DOT [federal and/or state] websites - those are good to learn, and knowing where to find the answer often saves a problem on down...

    "Touchdown Jesus" Burns....

So can you explain why you published the post [linked by Turtle, post 109] that ridiculed the beliefs of Muslims? Like I said before: I respect faith and sincerity, it's hypocrisy that ticks me off.

Oh, I'm glad I'm not an Oscar Meyer wiener That is what I never want to beeeee For if I were an Oscar Meyer wiener Everyone would want a piece of me! Well - you asked. :p

    My grandson, Mr. Cool

    "Touchdown Jesus" Burns....

As someone with about the same length of membership here, and twice as many posts, I guess you know something about running up the count, eh? Like posting 3 or 4 times a day in the location thread, having conversations with a few buddies on a regular basis, and [my favorite], posting a reply to...

    "Touchdown Jesus" Burns....

When I did volunteer work, [church sponsored, BTW], it was delivering Meals on Wheels to the elderly and incapacitated - so, are they 'bums', in your eyes?
