    Future technology

The way things are going, in 35 years, we'll be riding horses, pulling carts, lighting our houses with pitch covered torches, and cooking over a fire pit (which will be black market, since it will be against the law to cut down trees). The only modern technology will be used by the World...

    Windows Vista

And here I am thinking the USB port is a cool idea for a card. I feel like I'm back in the Stone Age! Anyone got any mango salsa? :D

    19,000 more Expediters?

Lawrence... more of the Japanese cars are being made in the US and Canada than the big 3. The Japanese are smart... they don't buy from Mexico (or at least not as much).

    Bolo

I'm glad I just went to the bathroom, or I'da had the laughing whizzes (still much better than the yucking squirts). :D Cheri... don't you know that all the fashion on Cops can be gotten at Old Navy? Try there. :p

    Reefer Relocation Charge

If you mean getting top FSC for a non-reefer load, then I guess you'd be getting something for nothing, right? It works the other way too... when you sit for 5 hours, and the shipper refuses to pay layover... they get something for nothing. I don't advocate it in either case. Pay me for what I...

    Reefer Relocation Charge

You mean the way most companies pay a hazmat load the same as a non-hazmat load? I'll be expecting to hear about no liftgate pay soon. All the extras will be just another way to get a normal paying load.

    Windows Vista

Thanx for the info. I did try that when I had probs loading that game. In fact, that might've been the problem itself. Glad goback was there, or I would've had to start everything over from scratch. Not blaming Vista, as there are only a handful of games known not to work on it. And I didn't get...

    Windows Vista

When I got my new laptop, it came with Vista. I would've rather had XP at the time, after hearing about the nightmares. But I have to say I'm very pleased with it. No crashes so far during normal operations. Goback took care of a problem I had installing a game. No shutdowns due to overheating...

    Who pays?

The only correct response to that is "Yes, Dear."

    Rates by carriers

If someone else is setting the rates, you could be getting 70% of crap, which is still crap.

    Sounds kinda kinky! :D

    Internet access on road

Ditto on the Sprint card. I can usually get service while my nephew is driving. It's too important to have to rely on a J or McDs being around. I need it when I need it. And it pays for itself by not having to dh to a service area. I'm also checking out a Wilson signal booster. I've heard...

    My trucks have been busy.

TODAY!!! Actually, my authority has been thru for a couple of weeks, but we've been on the road. Just have a couple of loose ends to tie up, and the next time I go out it'll be as an independent. Oh, the butterflies!!! :D

    My trucks have been busy.

Now I have to come up with another Phoenixism... "The secret to success is succeeding in keeping a secret." How's that? :D Thib brings up great points. When you rely on a company to load you, you're only as successful as your company allows you to be. That may not be for all companies...

    Rev's Ride 1

Nice ride, Padre!!! BTW, I thought of you when we passed Touchdown Jesus on 75. ;)

    My trucks have been busy.

Success in finding loads, whether running independently or finding decent backhauls, requires confidence in oneself. Most brokers can smell weakness, and will eat you up alive on rates if you let them. I'm not the most confident guy in the world, but having booked my first two LTLs this past...

    Driving for a Fleet Owner

Unfortunately, yes. The owner I ran for rarely answered his phone. Often, he was in an area where he couldn't get a signal. The last time this happened, the engine took a dump, and I couldn't reach him. Needless to say, he expected me to read his mind in hindsight. If you don't feel comfortable...

    Ron Paul Exposed

I should've noticed they're your hometown team. LOL I'm tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. I refuse to vote for evil, period! We have the choice of the faster road to tyranny or the slower road to tyranny. I'll stick to the Constitution, thank you, and vote my conscience. McCain...

    My trucks have been busy.

We were close to deadheading from Salt Lake City to either Omaha or home, but found a diamond in the rough on Friday on getloaded. Of course everyone was trying to get back east for the long weekend, so eastbound loads were rare. Can't say .96/mi is gravy, but it works in a pinch.

    Ron Paul Exposed

Is that when you decided to become a Colts fan? ;) I'm sorry. But I vote for my convictions. If a certain candidate happens to have those same convictions then HE/SHE gets my vote. Neither McCain nor Obama has EARNED my vote; so they will not get it. Plain and simple. If more ppl thought...
