    Straight Party Voting

Maybe that's an indication of the disgust people have for Democrats these days. Check back to the 2008 election, and I'm sure you'll find a different story. Personally, I would never vote straight party, as there are several liberal Republicans. Likewise, there are bluedog Dems running against...

Conservatism may be the "gruel" of the political arena. But it keeps you nourished, compared with the "candy" of the liberals, which ultimately makes you sick. Doug Hoffman leading, even with the likes of Republican 'rah-rah' boy, Newt, endorsing the lib Republican, shows that people are...

    New Jersey mandates snow-free vehicles

Tennesseahawk mandates New Jersey fix its potholes! ^ There! That should make things better. :D

    One Dispatcher over another

It may be a situation where, for example, you're the only truck in Laredo, with Laredo being dead. You may be the only XYZ truck there, but there are many other companies that have trucks there.

Bolt express is a freaking joke...ruining our business

There are those who have positive comments about companies who pay $1.10 a mile. Just means their happy making $1.10. Not saying Bolt is a bad company by any means... but that contractors have been known to be weird. :p

Bolt express is a freaking joke...ruining our business

Apparently, we're both right. While it is not illegal for a motor carrier to double broker, it is for a broker (non-motor carrier) to pass itself off as a motor carrier, then double broker without the consent of the original broker or shipper.

Bolt express is a freaking joke...ruining our business

It's illegal if the original company does not want it double brokered.

    Slowing down?

Not to brag, but it's nice to be home for a bit. They've been running us ragged! Just about every load came the same day we've dropped... with the exception of Jacksonville.

    Christopher Walter Monckton

I'm not in the "We're all gonna die" mode right now. Just trying to concentrate on ME, and getting the biz done; so I can be better prepared to flee the country when all he11 breaks loose. :D

Sounds like a Canuckian. Moncton is a relatively popular name up there.

Where have we heard it before???

The one that most hit me was Charles Schwab's comment on science curing unemployment. The same is said now with "green jobs". It makes me shudder!

From the St. Petersburg Times - Politifact

Here's the problem... What is proposed is dismissed by Congress unless it's right in line with what they want. If it's proposed by a Republican, it's dismissed because the Dem leaders want credit. If it opposes what the Dems want, they dismiss it because it's their way or nothing. Not saying...

Obama administration to revise trucker rule

I like how this skewed article neglects to mention that for 50+ years, we had 8 hour rest periods and no 14 hour rule. They make it sound like we evil truckers only got good stuff from Bush. It was obvious he kissed up to the ATA. And now, Obama is kissing up to the Teamsters.

Bolt express is a freaking joke...ruining our business

Actually Turtle, I believe it is illegal to double broker (there's another name for it I forget), without consent of the original broker. Since NLM doesn't usually condone it, then it would be illegal. Yes, this is a problem in the industry... brokering out just to make a buck. In some cases...

    Best State

I voted 'other'. The best state, IMO, is where other trucks ain't, and the freight is. Right now, it's Wisconsin. On the rare occasions I get there, I rarely wait to get out. Tennessee is another one. More often than not, I have to dh there to get loaded.

    Knoxville?

Knoxville is a good area every time I've been there. Most of my loads have come from east of the city... around the Greeneville area. Ppl tend to shy away from NE Tennessee, like they do Nebraska. I guess it's easier to dh than take a chance.

Is your company really smart? Are you?

Chef... I understand about bidding what your drivers will take. And I understand ppl will take what they have to to survive. My take on it is this... these lowballers seem to be waiting for rates to go up before they raise them themselves, without realizing they are the ones holding rates...

Is your company really smart? Are you?

Yet another thread about rates; both on yours, and the industry's as a whole. Who is helping who by keeping them low? Rates ARE going up; but companies are stuck in the same ol' mentality that their trucks won't get loaded unless they lowball. Thus, YOUR rates don't go up! My lease company is...
