Met an owner op who does some interesting things

I meant the OP - Rocketman is smart enough to fix a toilet, and in my book, that's several pay grades above driving. ;)

Met an owner op who does some interesting things

Sure hope so, cause 'too stupid to drive' is scary!

    What the?

Anyone who could read the headline "Are all male airline passengers predators?" and expect a rational discussion is just beyond reach of logic. BTW: the 2 airlines cited are both Australian - no US airline has any such [asinine] policy.

Met an owner op who does some interesting things

Yep. But if I hadn't replied, I wouldn't have learned why an owner might need copies of a driver's logs, and learning stuff [even if it seems irrelevant & useless stuff] is never wasted time, IMO. Getting the last word is, though, so it's all yours now. :D

Adding living quarters to a box truck

Yup, even I [someday, you'll regret that bold emphasis, you know] could handle it - but with a lot of city traffic, I wouldn't want to. Trailers can go all kinds of crazy in bad weather and sudden stops, and an inexperienced driver can get in real trouble real fast. One vehicle is easier to...

Met an owner op who does some interesting things

Having one's own authority is an area I'm not real familiar with, but wouldn't the logs kept by the aforementioned 'accounting people' be sufficient in case of an audit?

Progressive Insurance refuses to pay claim and pays lawyer to defend the other driver

Re: Progressive Insurance refuses to pay claim and pays lawyer to defend the other dr Yes, Zorry, but they didn't 'pay for the other driver's defense' , nor appear on his behalf, which is what the article says they did. BTW: I love the Daily Mail, but even I know they're not the most reliable...

Adding living quarters to a box truck

A motorhome that sleeps 4-6, trailering a 16 ft trailer? Dude, I wouldn't drive that, and I have a year's experience driving t/t! I think he's hit on the size/configuration that works for the job already, and is just asking for some suggestions on the setup. Mine would be to skip the shower, as...

    Ready for a change !

Welcome! And don't underestimate the value of attending the free seminars EO holds periodically - as the annual Expo shows, the 'face time' factor can't be beat for learning and networking. I bet you'd learn more there than reading back FIVE years on the forums! ;)

Adding living quarters to a box truck

Sounds good, Brisco, except for the lack of the 16 ft of space for the supplies and equipment that is apparently needed.

Progressive Insurance refuses to pay claim and pays lawyer to defend the other driver

Re: Progressive Insurance refuses to pay claim and pays lawyer to defend the other dr I can't believe nobody's screaming about the totally misinfomed headline of the article. Progressive did nothing to defend the other driver - they appeared in court as an 'interested party', which they were...

Met an owner op who does some interesting things

What OVM said. Also, there is no reason whatsoever for a fleet owner [person who owns more than one truck, as opposed to an owner operator, who drives the truck he owns] to have a driver submit copies of their logbook to him/her. Somebody's BS meter needs a tuneup.

Ohio cracking down on truckers cheating the toll road

Ohio Turnpike moves to curb toll-ticket scam by truckers | cleveland.com I couldn't find it on Cleveland.com, had to Google it.....Some interesting stuff, mainly about how the way to prevent the scams is to institute a 'timed' approach: stay too long between entry & exit, and you'll be assumed...

    What the?

Sexual discrimination against men? Puhleeeeze. When the subject is pedophiles, [or mass murdered or serial killers] the perpetrators are men, almost without exception. That's what makes most people think it's safer for kids to be in close proximity to strangers who are female: because it's...

    on the road again

Boy - miss a couple weeks around here, and all he** breaks loose! I'm glad to hear you're on the road to better things, having hit about all the potholes and speed bumps possible lately. [It's why I get so angry when some people assume that anyone who is 'down on their luck' is lazy or somehow...

No experience or unit. How do I get started?

I agree in theory, but in reality, it's tough to drive [not to mention unsafe] when you can't turn your head!

    I'm Back.....perhaps....

Welcome back, Scott! And be thankful for small favors, like being a guy, so Snappy didn't post about sleeping beside you - he did that to me once, and I'm still finding stuff I spit into the keyboard. If you missed that kind of silliness, you're back where you belong. ;)

An update on the powerful undershirt!

I know I'm gonna regret this, but the pants pictured are not the original [in]famous OVM shorts. The original pair were gaudy enough to blind you [even with your eyes closed], an outrage against good taste, exacerbated by the addition of a wildly clashing shirt that makes the pictured shorts...

No experience or unit. How do I get started?

I think Moose makes some good points: every case is different, and this wannabe seems to have a basic understanding of what's required: low overhead, and a willingness to stay out long enough to make money, and [most important!] a bit of reserve cash just in case [even not owning the vehicle...
