    Carrier cutting rates

I think they had more than that there Friday. We got there Friday afternoon and got a load that went to Michigan but picked up Saturday and delivered Monday. But it is hard to tell the truck count down there if you are in a office in Michigan. ;) But of course......some might be "special"...

    What gives?

I don't know if it is Obamacare, but certainly the fear of being sued plays in to it.

Possibly, but may be not as much fun.

May be on to something. E-1 drivers can profit off the reduced rates by dropping the load 50 miles from the actual delivery. Can't believe I overlooked that profit making potential. Seems more than reasonable. If the cut the rate, cut the delivery.

    Panther rates???

You must be referring to just contractors? I would think any carrier would want you to feel "good" about being leased to them. I think that has been the case since I have been in expediting. If you driving, working, hauling for any company, they are using you as a tool to make money. Most...

    Panther rates???

You know what they say when one "ASSUMES".;) With regards to rates, it is more of "watch what they do, rather than what they say". The results may surprise a few.

    Panther rates???

The reduced rates on vans may be just limited to vans? Not really sure. That doesn't mean we aren't offered any that are reduced. When just looking at straight trucks, the only times we really see anything like that is areas that lack traditional expedite freight. Northwest, Florida, sometimes...

    Carrier cutting rates

Don't know on vans but on straights it blows it away. They weren't even there before the rate cut.

    Carrier cutting rates

I am just truly amazed at how many in our industry seem to lack a calculator or the basic concepts of operating one. Then again, it could be recruiters posing as drivers. Never want to ASSUME something. BTW....where is Forrest?

    Carrier cutting rates

Oh...I don't know. Maybe they got in Steady's moonshine Friday and everyone will get paid Monday and get their .12 or .20 cent per mile back. Moonshine can do that on a Friday if starting too early.;)

Banks No Match for Trucks Where Rigs Pay Twice as Much

May have something with the military but it would only be a supplement. Accordingly to that article, they are 125k short. You only have 65k in Afghanistan. If every single one signed up, you are still short according to them. Now pass the burritos. ;)

Banks No Match for Trucks Where Rigs Pay Twice as Much

Congress will go for a quick fix by sending money to Mexico to recruit drivers.;) Wonder if E-1 is part of that lobbying effort since they just cut their rates to drivers?

    Carrier cutting rates

I guess things can happen, but to cut the rates and slow pay in the same week does give pause for thought. I also heard a short while ago that they cut the accessorials as well. Does make one wonder.

They have to take that .12 cents per mile out before they send the checks.

    Carrier cutting rates

True....but not likely a move to E-1. They already have a new guy they hired in December. Strange things can happen though.

Gee, and I thought they would give that extra money to dispatchers so they are nice while picking your pocket.
