Dumbest thing ever done in expedite...

On December 30 we took a load from near our home in Florida to Brownsville, TX. Delivered on December 31. Got to sit down there until January 5th. Should have stayed home and celebrated New Years.

Bluebell Ice Cream Now In Indy

    A Question for Van Drivers?

OK, Here's what I learned so far. Don't do it. (Greg and LDB) Get a comfortable seat. (Turtle) Where to get a comfortable seat. (ChefDennis) I want an ejection seat from there also to help get rid of cranky wife syndrome.:D Pace yourself, build up time to take a break (OVM, Turtle, Charles...

Why didn't I get that load?

I would like to see a message like that. I would also like to know how a load can come out offered at a low pay, gets declined by everyone and then 15 minutes later comes back at a higher rate. Aren't we supposed to be getting a percentage of what the customer is charged? Where does the higher...

    A Question for Van Drivers?

Thanks Greg and OVM. I knew you 2 would answer as you are both members of the 10k club. And not suprisingly I got answers as far apart as possible. I would like to hear some other peoples tips and secrets. My wife got in 707 miles in 11 hours. Her secret was listening to womens talk shows on...

    A Question for Van Drivers?

I'm probably gonna get slammed for asking this, but I am asking because I feel naive and want to learn more about the vanner lifestyle as I am considering the pros and cons of adding on a van to my fleet of one S/T. I have the utmost respect for all pro drivers and realize that we all have to...

    Sign on bonus with fdcc

I transfered with the driver of a DS truck in Newark. He lives in Jamaica, NY and only runs 200 miles from his home, sleeps in his own bed at night and makes pretty good money. The down side is he lives in Jamaica, NY and mostly does NYC runs.

    Where to?

Last time I was in that area I headed to the flying j in Ripon on Jack Tone Road. It's about 80 miles, but I was staying the weekend and it was near my route to a pick up.

    Old! Me Old???

I didn't have any hair by the time I was 45. My wife thinks it funny that I can get the senior discount at 51, and that people ask if she is my daughter.

    Old! Me Old???

$5.37 That's what the kid behind the counter at Taco Bell said to me. I dug into my pocket and pulled out some lint and two dimes and something that used to be a Jolly Rancher. Having already handed the kid a five-spot, I started to head back out to the truck to grab some...

    Pigs and buffets

Sounds like you would be right at home at the Zellwood Corn Festival May 28-30, 2010, (Google it) in Zellwood, FL. All the corn you can eat and good music too.

    Life after Custom Critical

We used to get a little bit more money for the big signs, but we had to pay for them. Now we get the same pay with or without, but the signage is free. We have the big signage and like it. We think it looks more professional and is good advertising for company.:)

    Life after Custom Critical

It sounds like a couple of good weeks. Are you running team? How does the pay compare? Are you doing much deadheading? I read about why you left FDCC and thought you got a bad deal. Glad to hear that things are working out. I always believed that when one door closes another one opens.

    Pigs and buffets

At the Petro in Bodentown there is a regular customer that my wife has named "Pig Girl". She is about 5' tall, 90 pounds, young and blond. She eats about 8 heaping plates of food, rarely gets a clean plate, licks her fingers and then grabs the serving utensils. We thought she was taking food...

    New express centers

When I read this is the fleet bulletin I was wondering if they were trying to tell us that business is picking up in these areas. We have never been to Portland but the other three have not been good to us. How are you doing out of these areas?

Where Even A Rolling Stone Gathers Moss

Again more great shots. We have never been to the 6 north western states that are always frozen over. My grandfather lived in Moses Lake, WA and I did get to go there once as a teenager. I was an Army photo journalist and taught photography at the local rec centers. I am now learning digital...

    Working the numbers and confused

One of the reasons we sit is because you never know where or when the next load will pick up. If you move from Milwaukee to Chicago on your own money and then get a load picking up in Milwaukee you just wasted your time and money deadheading to Chicago. Especially if your carrier authorized you...

    Fair Compensation

I agree with the above answers. We had 5 dry runs in the last 30 days. The compensation we received was minimal. Besides the lost time off the boards and the fuel expense there is also the disappointment factor. We had a run that was to deliver 100 miles from home on 4/5. Since we needed to be...

Where Even A Rolling Stone Gathers Moss

Beautiful photos and great composition. Are you using a tripod and slow shutter speed? It looks like you captured some good flow to the water.
