    Battery Powered HVAC

Is anyone using a battery powered HVAC unit? I am interested in something like the NITE or Climacab system. How well will it heat and cool a 72 inch sleeper? How long will it run before recharge? How long does it take to recharge while driving or idling? Any recommendations? I have seen...

What state has the nicest welcome center?

Arizona and New Mexico have some nice ones with good picture opps. Florida's are good for the free OJ. And there is a real nice one on I80 in Ohio that has free showers if you bring your own towel. I really hate the ones in Virginia because they are always closed when you need it the most. That...

    Ultra Shift Problem

No, they didn't have any advice but the shop owner did say that it could be the original clutch with 650k miles on it. The pilot bearing actually wore out before the clutch. The clutch still had around 30% on it. Total cost was $2918. I get it back tomorrow and back in service on Monday.

    Global warming ? eh Al...

I have never bought into Global Warming. I believe that temperature changes, blizzards, hurricanes, droughts and all other manner of climate change is part of the natural cycle of the planet. I do believe we are depleting our natural resources and polluting the planet. Hopefully if we all try...

FedEx gets a really big discount on tires at Speedco. I had a post on here earlier about it. Just ask for it.

    Ultra Shift Problem

The truck is now in the shop. Clutch was worn out, pilot bearing is shot, input shaft is damaged from pilot bearing failure, and the flywheel is damaged from the springs in the clutch coming out and gouging the recessed area where they fit into when the clutch is engaged. The owner of the shop...

    Truck rolling

I've driven 4 different auto shifts, 2 KW's and 2 Freightliners. All of them roll if you're not on level ground. On the KW's I just used the trolly break to hold it still while I moved my foot. On the Freightliners its "One foot on the brake and one on the gas"

    Ultra Shift Problem

The only time it does this is when coming to a full stop. All other up and down shifting works perfectly. It only seams to do this about every 50 to 100 full stops. My local Freightliner dealer says it sounds like the clutch brake is not engaging so the input shaft is not stopping. Says I...

    Ultra Shift Problem

I have a 2006 Freightliner Columbia with the Mercedes MBE 4000and Eaton Ultra Shift transmission. 650,000 miles on it. Recently I had a problem with the truck failing to go into 2nd gear when coming to a full stop. The truck would not move. I set the brakes, put on my 4 ways and kept trying to...

    Getting Experience

Be willing to team. Especially if you can find an experienced driver to work with. Think of it as a 6 month learning experience. Also, don't limit yourself to a Class 7. Alot of the straight trucks out here are Class 8.

Thanks TeamCaffee for posting that reference. I am printing that out and keeping it with me in the truck.

    Sirius/XM

Petro has the outside mirror mount antennaes. Mine doesn't have the mushroom top. It is round, about 1 1/4 inches in diameter and about 7-8 inches long. It works great. The antennae that came with the radio kept losing signal. I think it cost me @ $60.

    Hino "D" unit

The Hino is a good truck for its intended use. Local Delivery's. They are too underpowered for long distance cross country runs. I would recommend you buy a Class 8 truck. My 2006 Freightliner Columbia gets around 10 MPG, has more power than I will ever need and rides smooth with airbags...

Did I miss something with HOS?

I have run into the same problem that greg334 started this thread with. My wife and I normally run team, but she needed to take this month off so I am running solo. He is correct. It is a team run. Any run that has more than 14 hours between pick up and delivery cannont be legally run by a...
