I'd like to be home nightly too. But we stay out 3 to 5 weeks and then take 7-10 days off. We can do a lot more in those 7-10 days then we can just having a 2 day weekend. I agree that most that can live this lifestyle and do this work will become owners at some point.

One of the big problems is people think they are to good to be a truck driver or can't/won't live this life style. The other problem is passing the drug test. I'm amazed at how many people smoke weed even though they know it will prevent them from finding decent employment.

And you can bid lower and undercut the bigger carriers because you have little or no overhead and still make more per mile.:rolleyes:

But an 08 is an Express Center Check in. If I am moving I don't want to check in. Maybe I should try sending a 15. I wonder if that would help?

I agree with the above, but we get them all the time while we are moving. This great new QC should be able to track us. We have started sending a message every time we stop that says "Our current loaction is .....". Then 10 minutes later we get a "Moving ?" message.

So $.90 + FSC would be about $1.08 for loaded miles.

Is you $.90 an all miles rate? I'm not in a van but FedEx pays $.85 + FSC (currently $.18) for loaded miles which is $1.03. They also pay FSC on all deadhead miles and I think $.10 on all deadhead miles after the first 50.

Our truck is a Freightliner Columbia CL112 (short hood) with the factory 70 inch sleeper. It measures 39' 5".

Good explanation Greg! Our box is 24 foot and we have only used it to capacity once. We did a 13 skid load that was booked as a 10 skid D load and the shipper added 3 more skids when we got there. We did get E pay. I would recommend a 22 foot box as wide and tall as you can find it.

We did 16009 miles in 24 days. 10 runs. We were laid over for 4 day in El Paso for the July 4th weekend.

Am I the only one that keeps getting messages while on a run that say, "Moving?", "Please send 08 if stopped" or "current location please"? One would think that with this modern QC and $35 a week charge that they would know where we are and if we are moving.

The best we ever had and it was only 2 runs. MI to PA for pick up, deliver in Fresno, CA for 2991 miles. Then pick up in Calexico and deliver on Long Island for 3216 miles.
